Each place is given a batch of regs that get auto allocated. The batch you get depends on the area you are in. So me being in the midlands I have been told will have prefix FE66, FD66, FG66.
am I being fussy not liking registration number given ?

I used to be like that when I was a kid, I knew all the Devon plates, used to be the last 2 letters of the 3 back in those days IIRC.
@california - Cornwall was .AF, CV and RL!
