Anyone have a 2” receiver hitch on their T6?

As above; has anyone installed a 2” receiver hitch on their van?

Looking at this as an option for hitch mounted vertical bike rack. Used the tailgate mounted one this summer properly for the first time and frankly it’s fairly subpar.

Keen to see pics if you’ve got a 2” receiver, and get details of the install as I can’t find much online.

Cheers

Thanks! The one in their video for a T6 looks ideal; neatly tucked away with receiver under support bar

But the one they link you to looks far less tidy, and a different design as the receiver is at the same level as the support bar:

Anyone got one?

Does any one now have a Receiver Hitch on a T6, any one at all? I would be interested in seeing one because they are very useful adaptive devices. I would consider changing from the original factory fit option on my T6 Caravelle Executive 4Motion. I was wondering do they reduce ground clearance or even improve on it. Perhaps hey may need different vehicle modifications to fit It would be handy to use a towing ring for snatching a vehicle off road for example. They are very popular in USA off road world because of adaptability.

Yeah would be nice if someone did…

I currently have the removable swan neck so am tempted to order the witter receiver without electrics, and fit myself. I think it’s about £450. My only real concern is it has to be the hitch from the vid attached to the yellow t6, and not the other one.

I’m assuming that I can keep and swap over the existing electrics and 7/13 pin jobby without much issue

From my reading it shouldn’t affect ground clearance I don’t believe.

I assume yours would be to mount the swing away bicycle rack?

Yes indeed. My van doesn’t meet the height/ground clearance requirements of the Yakima upright rack, but I’m reading that as a suggestion rather than mandatory. If it scrapes a bit that’s ok; kinda like if it ain’t rubbin’ it ain’t dubbin’!

Have a look at PFJones website part no 322131600001 Westfalia detachable flange towbar fits t5 through to t6.1 I’m sure.Fancy one myself!

Not sure if this is of much help as I am in New Zealand, but these are a couple of pictures of my towbar. I wanted one that fitted under the bumper to avoid a bumper cut. I did however need to cut some bits off the plastic bumper support bar though, which you can hopefully make out in the first picture.

I could well be wrong but not sure that’s structurally the same as a receiver. Please do correct me if I’m wrong

It is a receiver so that various devices can be used. Here they call it a removable coupling or some such. I can take a better picture if required.
It was made by "lockon" here in New Zealand - LOCKON - Towbars and Towing Accessories
But suspect it is a copy of another global brand.
A few years back they the government or regulations in any case started strict regulations on what could be fitted if vehicle was manufactured after a certain date. So anything for towing more or less has to be covered by certification.:cautious::)

Yep, Here in NZ pretty much any modification requires a low volume modification certificate - things like wheel spacers etc. A towbar however is one modification that does not require a a LV certification :)

I have a receiver type in Australia too. The ball is 470mm off the ground . Ideal for swing away bike racks and towing.
The receiver is rated at 3 ton but of course my Van towing capacity is only 2.2 ton so no problem if I keep under that.
The tongue part is removable and the silver flap blanks it off.20250221_155240.jpg
