Anything you wish you'd thought of???

I've been looking at conversions and wondering, is there anything you'd wish your thought of when spec'ing a conversion?
Could be something you wish you'd had done professionally rather than yourself, Something you rather have had fitted during the conversion for access reasons or whatever.

What is a BBQ point?

External gas point connected to the internal or usually the under slung gas tank.. That way you plug in, turn the tap on to make the bbq point live with gas, and then your cooking on gas outside..

That's blown my mind... I've got a weber go anywhere BBQ that normally runs from patio gas. Can this be done with the bottle going in the camper?

Hi

My Kombi is due in for its full camper conversion next month and I discussed with the converter today whether or not it's worth having the additional rear quarter windows fitted.

What's everyone's thoughts on this, opt for the additional windows or stick with the standard kombi setup?

Thanks

If you're having a wardrobe type cupboard on the offside wheel arch I'd say no. Unless you want one on the other side but for me that would make the van uneven and upset my OCD

Really a lot of work for not a lot of gain if running bottled, better when runing LPG underslung tank as larger, cheaper fill from auto LPG filling stations, can hide fitting under rear bumper area out of the way if needed..

Not sure, id sit in back of one with, then yours.. Probably lighter..

To balance van up, idea for you... Fit lh rear as glass, then rh as false, that way it looks balanced, but you haven't got a window into the back of your cupboards..

Think about lighting. Weve plenty of it but in the dark when you open the slider from the outside, you have to get in and turnnthe interior lights on.

I wished I'd specced a courtesy light (on/off/timed) , bit of a flaff to retro fit, so looking for an LED PIR sensor battery light.

Get a remote control.. Its fun I can tell you.. Just get a bit of Velcro and stick it somewhere... (Ahem lol).

Thanks all, yes the convertor has recommended a false window on the other side to even things up. Think I'm more likely just to stay with the standard kombi look to save money but take your point about the darkness and the need for extra light.

I've got a dummy window on the wardrobe side.

I picked mine up yesterday and already wish I'd gone for the rear seat/bed on rails.

I'm also not keen on the pop top roof as it's got loads of bolts showing where the internal handles are fixed!

That's what we did - wouldn't have thought of it myself though - the idea came from reading the forum posts.

As per @Oldrat think about the lighting - we fitted a extra reading lights (above passenger seat and rear seats/bed for reading).
I retro fitted (after conversion) a two way switch arrangement for the interior lights - the second rocker switch is to the right of the side sliding door - so that the interior can be switched on without having to clamber through van.
I also retro fitted a high intensity LED into the tail gate - great in the winter when you want to get things out of the back etc....

A shower point at the back is a must (in my opinion!) - showering of sh*ty legs after a run; dogIMG_0892.JPG etc.... I have even used it to clean the BBQ before packing it away!!

I fitted rear windows with a wardrobe setup and so glad I did. Mine is a LWB so I get about 400mm of window (at a guess) and it lets a nice amount of light in. To avoid seeing into the back of my wardrobe shelves I carpetted a panel and nailed it to the back of the wardrobe so when you look in side the wardrobe now all you see is the carpet on the back panel as opposed to the window. I am not sure if I would have bothered if I had a SWB
