Are EVs the way forward?

Not sure how you managed that, I carried 400kg in the test drive I did and manged 160 miles. Weight doesn't effect EV range despite the Internet police saying otherwise. The sport will do 80mph and the msrt will do 100mph.
Cool.
Im just saying what happened.
I've no reason to make it up, as I actually quite fancied one if it worked out.
It had done just over 1000 miles and I think the display showed 2.1 miles p.kwh
I don`t really know what that means or equates to, just what the display showed, and what happened on my time with it.

I believe you.
2.1m/kwh x 64kwh (battery size) = 134miles so it's about right if you started on 88% and finished at 5%. I'd expect that's the worst you'd see but time would tell when mine arrives and I can live with it for longer.

Did you play with the regen? It has strong one pedal mode and a milder mode controlled via the gear stalk button.
I was getting 2.7m/kwh on my test in sport mode with strong regen.

Still plenty of range for me and substantially cheaper than running my thirsty T6.

Is there a speed sweet spot?
I always drive mine on eco+ mode which shuts off most ancillary facilities, and limits it to 56mph. I seem to get around 140 miles on a full charge, 42kw battery, 38ish useable

That would depend on the motor gearing and aero of each car. Taycan for example hits its sweet spot in 2nd gear at around 60mph so a good at high speeds.
Most EV range tests that competitors do in EV range rallys are below 30mph.

I don't own an ev yet so not experienced enough to know first hand.

I meant sweet spot as in, best speed to achieve maximum range, in an EV

But you've still got to be able to keep up with it!
Ah, but you will. If you've ever pedaled a bike at over 30mph on the flat you'll notice the massive difference drafting makes. There's one particular 2 mile Strava segment where I can average 32mph with a heart rate of 180ish. I did that segment one day drafting a Fast Track with a beaver tail trailer, average 34mph with a heart rate in the 120's.

So, if you want to hypermile your EV, sit behind Trucker Tim.

Have wagons had their 56mph limiters removed now?
No, I think they still limit them to 56 but obviously downhill they can still exceed that, which is why you often see their brake lights come on, especially if they're well loaded.
I recently had to do a 350 mile round trip in a 7.5 tonner which was only lightly loaded and limited to 56MPH. It's trip I do several times a year.
On the uphills I was faster than all of the heavier loaded HGV's (who couldn't maintain 56 uphill) but downhill they were either overtaking me or sitting a few feet behind me.
I'm not willing to voluntarily limit myself to 56MPH in my car or van and I don't see many people doing so.

If a HGV has had new tyres since calibration, it will alter the gearing meaning that the truck with fresh rubber will only take 4 miles to overtake one with worn tyres down the A14, both pinned against the limiter, as opposed to the usual 5 miles.

That’s my MO. As soon as we hit a motorway, I pick a foreign lorry (they aren’t restricted) set the ACC to 60mph tuck in and sit back & relax. It makes a huge difference to my MPG & stress level.
I do similar, but simp,y because I cant be arsed.

Dodging in and out to maintain 70 is stressful, makes little difference to journey times, but a big difference to fuel consumption, so why bother?

Like you, I find a lorry heading my way (I call them Travel Buddies) and being driven sensibly and sit well back from them.

If I want to go any quicker I'd take the Hayabusa and do it properly.
