And then paid off the finance a month later? When I bought my current van, I went in with cash in the bank prepared to pay in full. This was 7 years ago when interest rates were rock bottom. I negotiated a deal with the stealer & tried to chip him for more discount. His response was, "that's the best price I can do, but if you take out a minimum of £1k finance, VW will give you a £500 deposit contribution & 2 years free servicing. You can pay it off at any time without penalties." The interest rate was negligible, it was going to cost something like £300 for £10k over 12 months, + I got the additional £500 discount & the servicing, it was a no-brainer. So I kept my money in the bank & had their arm off.
Nope, I kept the finance for the 12month term. For what it was costing, it was better in my bank than theirs. And then paid off the finance a month later?
There'll be none of that any more with the court rulings regarding finance and commission.
If anybody is looking down on you based on the perceived value of what you drive then more fool them. It's yours, not the finance company's.I did buy my used T6 and the Astra outright with a single payment which is why they're not new or top of the range models but feel I get looked down at when out and about... well, in the Astra certainly, by drivers in their more expensive rented cars, maybe it's just human nature and I'm being thin skinned?
And then again, chances are that if diesel fuel stops being available, we could still go to Kentucky Fried Chicken to fill it up.I don't really care what the future of propulsion is. I'll be dead long before all the diesel runs out.
Probably the heaviest Lotus in the world...My son popped over this week for a visit and brought one of his works cars out for a test drive after a software upgrade....

I think "simplify and add lightness" has long gone out the window.Probably the heaviest Lotus in the world...

TraitorTook the e-custom back today.
I picked it up on 88% showing a range of 150 miles.
I achieved about 100 miles, and returned it on 5%.
Bearing in mind it was completely empty, I thought this range was pretty useless, to us anyway. We normally run at least 500kg and up to 1200kg
The fit/finish of the van on the whole, seemed good to me. No rattles/squeaks and the cab is without doubt the best I have seen. Much more room for the middle passenger than any other van in its class.
The van is limited to 70, which is another no from me.
I would probably have a diesel, but would have to get my head around the wet belt issue and probably get rid, after the 5 year warranty was up.
I've seen 170 lwb ex demos with less than 5000 miles for 30ish grand, which is probably where I would look.

If weight has no affect, why don't EV 44 tonne trucks have the same drivetrain as an EV car?Not sure how you managed that, I carried 400kg in the test drive I did and manged 160 miles. Weight doesn't effect EV range despite the Internet police saying otherwise. The sport will do 80mph and the msrt will do 100mph.
That would appear to break the laws of physics!?Weight doesn't effect EV range
Indeed. Weight, or more correctly mass, does make a difference but all sorts of reasons the loss isn't as marked in an EV.That would appear to break the laws of physics!?
Nonetheless, transporting additional mass requires additional energy, ergo range is reduced.Indeed. Weight, or more correctly mass, does make a difference but all sorts of reasons the loss isn't as marked in an EV.
