Auto Stop/start Caused Me A Near Miss Today...

I have the same issue with start stop and DSG I bought a 2021 with the top engine and 4wd, this van I can be still actually moving and the engine is already turned off I only notice when the steering wheel is solid and I could be in traffic or manoeuvring and if your on a slight up hill at a junction and the engine stops well it takes an eternity to start up and set off many times I’ve missed my chance of safely pulling out because of it it’s so unresponsive. I have a X5 with start stop and it has no such issues it starts and sets off instantly

Just reading this and thinking about the stop start on my van. When I am stopped in a line of traffic at the lights, if the car in front edges forwards a couple of meters then this causes my engine to start. I have started leaving a decent gap to the vehicle in front to stop this happening.
I assume yours is using the radar to anticipate your next move? My car is a PHEV but bleeps if the car in front pulls away and I don’t, but as it’s a PHEV it doesn’t start up.

you do allow for the 3 second delay on the hill assisted brakes hold on can sometimes stop a quick pull away out into traffic

Just an observation……after having The DSG remapped ( TVS) and fitting cross climate tyres…..many of the issues like pulling away at junctions ( delay ) and wheel spinning have gone…..I still use stop/start…….I’m no longer driving by the seat of my pants and that adrenaline twitch has gone ….still enjoying the stress free thrill of a 204 :)

No technical data to support

If the car in front moves a bit that causes mine to start, also if you release pressure on the brakes it also starts.
Mine never stops when I get to the traffic lights at the top of the slip road coming off the motorway.

It‘ll fire up on its own if there’s a demand for heat (or cooling) from the HVAC system or the battery voltage is dropping and it demands charge.
