Autoterm Comfort Control wiring

Managed to knock the control panel off its mount today, which has therefore detached from its wiring. Does anyone have any experience of rewiring these? I think I'm right in saying they're supplied pre-wired with a connector at the other end but I didn't fit it originally and I haven't pulled away the trim to fish out the cable yet to check what's going on.

Thanks @Higgidav I think my problem is going to be at the other end though. Looking at the back of the controller there's no obvious female connector so guessing it was wired directly to the circuit board?

That's what I feared. New controller time unless I can figure out how to rewire it.

Hopefully you could solder them back depending where the break has occurred.

I could do with a photo of the back of a controller with wiring still in situ, if anyone happens to have one.

Thank you again - been looking for something like this for an hour now! So looks like there may be hope for a simple plug back in outcome after all! I'll get the trim tools out in the morning and find out.

Thanks again for you help.

@hunta. Out of interest, have you ever used any other Autoterm controller? I ask as I've never really learned to love the PU27 in my van and was thinking of switching it out for the Comfort Controller.

I switched my PU27 for the comfort controller which I find is much better.017C1DFC-348A-425A-9BA2-9B4FCAC63410.jpegE1D8E2AA-770D-41A0-8D8B-45D5809FF0D4.jpeg

@Ayjay I haven't tried a different controller but to be honest I'm tempted. I don't find the Comfort Controller very intuitive, and 9 times out of 10 I just want to switch it either on or off, and that can be a struggle!

Managed to get this all sorted and connected back up. One remaining problem is that one of the fastening tabs on the mounting plate has snapped off, so it's held in place with light tack masking tape for now.

Anyone happen to know where I can get a spare?

The main two benefits I find with the comfort controller over the PU27 is the ability to change settings whilst the heater is running and the run timer function.

Heers guys.
@hunta. That's usually all I want to do as well.
@Higgidav. They're both things that I've never wanted to do (so far anyway).
So sounds like I'd be better off sticking with the PUs7 then.

Interested to know how hard was it to change over. Do you need extra cables etc?

It’s a straight swap. I also posted some pictures showing the size difference earlier in this thread.

When you say a straight swap, where does it plug in? I have not removed old one so do not know how long the cable is or where it connects? Thanks for the help by the way.

If you look at the photo in this post above you'll see the white plug on the end of the cable. This has a small tab that you squeeze to release from the control panel (or in my case just give it a hard yank). I'd imagine you just plug it straight into the new panel, switch mounting plates and Bob's your uncle.
