Bad VW franchise garage !!!!!!

To the point !
Ad blue will only ever give you headaches. Making an engine that produces smoke smoke less doesn’t work out well that’s like having a bonfire in the garden and then saying I don’t want any smoke to come out of it it’s quite hard to do. Maybe just don’t have a fire in the first place. I reckon if the companies put their efforts into creating cheaper battery technology instead of hanging onto diesel and petrol, we would be a lot further than we are now and we might all be driving at 26K EV Van .

It's actually very easy to do un rhe engineering sense. These latest gen diesels emit less particulates than most petrol cars, the performance of DPF's is so good. Even early DPF's 20 years ago could be so good they wouldn't trigger the machine at MOT time.

Of course, making them both reliable and human proof are a different kettle of aquatic life altogether.

Adblue doesn't affect particulates, is a measure for Nox reduction and is highly effective. They can indeed be unreliable, but in the grand scheme they're not so bad - after all, people don't come on here and start threads about how excellent and trouble free their AdBlue system has been this week. If there's nothing to report, nothing gets said, so the type of background noise we hear is very skewed.

Where manufactuers don't help us out is with the design. An adblue tank with integral pump and sensors, neither of which can be replaced separately, is sheer bone idle lazy design and nothing to do with the inherent effectiveness or then system. If folk could replade a wonky sensor for £50 or pump for £250 instead of having to buy an entire tank for £2000 they would, quite understandably, have a much kinder view of these things.

What I mean is they’re not reliable compared to the old 1.9 PD engine that thing was bulletproof. I had one that did over 350 K with a little issues but these modern engines have so much electronics on to keep them efficient and low emissions. More to go wrong.

While the block and oily bits were robust, the Pumpe Duse motor was far from reliable overall and was a difficult proposition with emissions.

When it did break it was specialist and spendy to put right.

All of my mates had this engine and family members never had an issue with it

Got the van back from VW Manchester, full service done , on all in plan!, no problems , the guys helped me set up the vW app, all good can’t fault them!

We are waiting for a warranty approved replacement DSG box on our other van...

Been In The garage for 3mnths now.

DSG box has no eta from the factory (in Germany or somewhere?) .... Raised a complaint at customer services... Same answer... No eta......so we just have to wait.!
What garage have you got your van in by any chance?

Regarding my van, they did a very thorough video and the master attack found even more things wrong with the Van even though sales assured me that they went through a very detailed multi point check which we all know is bollocks.

He has changed the Dual mass flywheel on the warranty and a host of other items. I noticed that the side door is quite rough when operating and that the gearbox may need replacement but I don’t fancy waiting three months or more like this other guy on here.

When I get the van back, hopefully next week, I’ll take some pictures of it

Gearbox van in Loughton.

Engine van in Chelmsford.

Previously was in Dartford, but won't go there anymore.

You should try multi quote - works a charm...

That was a quick turnaround

I've unsubscribed and called to ask to be removed!!! and they still persist!
I get this with Listers. I stopped using them a) because they often break something, b) because they charge £140/hr for some school leaver to break something and c) because they keep contacting me about work they already charged me for saying it needs doing!… I had them do a brake fluid change once and literally every six months they would be calling and emailing to say I need a brake fluid change!
I get emails from them (straight to my junk folder) and occasionally a Listers up north somewhere calls me to tell me my Jaguar is ready for collecting. I don’t own a Jaguar.

You should go and pick it up :think smile bounce:

At the moment, I’m not gonna say what garage blinds in because mine is still going on but when I get my van back, I will let you know

I think they realised I was proper business once I told them what I used to do for work and that I have a friend that works for VW head office. I think they decided to buck that ideas up but I have already flagged the garage with VW so that will come up when they have their audit.

Is that a VW van listers garage? Where abouts?

An update for anyone that is interested regarding the van, the garage has been very helpful as the master Tech has been looking at the vehicle and carrying out the work. They have fixed quite a lot of things that he found wrong on the vehicle, mirror glass not heating up, squeezing from aux belt, rear spring seats worn with springs not aligned, dust cover missing on both front shocks - even though they had already replaced these, exposed wire on fuel temperature sensor.

They also changed the Dual Mass Flywheel as they found that it was excessively worn when they removed the gearbox for inspection.

The only remaining issue on the van is on the DSG gearbox. When manual mode is selected or plus and minus and accelerating. As the gearbox changes gear there is a harsh or notchi gear change. My understanding was that it should be a seamless smooth gear change. I have test driven other vans they had and they’re all very smooth in manual mode so I’ll be carrying out a long test drive and the van will probably be going back for the 4th time, but the service department have been very helpful probably because I raise the issue with VW head office customer care.

If anyone else has got a DSG van, would you mind accelerating from a low speed and changing gears with the manual mode at higher RPM around 3k and seeing if the notchiness is there with you as well?

I have a 72 t28 dsg pv with 16k on the clock.

I can confirm manual up shifts at 3k on my van are seamlessly smooth. Downshifts are just as smooth to.
Normal D mode, again seamless.

Hope this helps you out somewhat.

Thanks for this,

I’m going to leave it for another 400 miles of driving as the gearbox was reset and see what it’s like, I heard the wait for gearbox is months
