Perhaps not as high as I had thought...

Very bizarre to still have the same symptoms - I've only ever seen this behaviour of the soot mass "jumping" from this sensor.

Did you fit brand new, or used?
The sensor was brand new and the newer "AB" part number revision.

Is replacing the DPF the next option? Ideally would prefer to avoid the expense, but if that will resolve the issue it will be "when" rather than "if" I replace it.

I don't see that being a solution to be honest. This feels like a sensor issue, albeit not the usual culprit.

Would recommend pulling the Self Study Programme for your engine family and see which inputs are used for the soot mass calculations, then check the plausibility of their values in a driving cycle.

Thanks for all the guidance so far... with all the current talk on the forum about the CXEB engine and mileage similar to mine, its a bit stressful hoping I don't have a bigger issue that is presenting itself in this way.

Excuse the ignorance, but what is the self study program and how do I get that?

VW internal training document, but obtainable by the public via ErWin.

What engine do you have?

Many thanks.
Can anyone guide me here, I'm using the LITE version to learn a little.
App shows 15.5 soot mass.
Is this healthy and regen is taking place ?.
I have never noticed any indicators on dashboard to suggest regeneration is happening.
