its a bit of a faff to get on . . .

the quality seems Meh, . . . . . as its just a rubber sheet with material backing. (no sure its worth the cost IMHO)

cut to fit over the doors with a door corner pocket.

and a cut-out for the side mirrors with a strip of Velcro.

maybe as a camping blackout screen it might work out well. . . ?

but as a snow and ice cover I'm (personally) not convinced. ( no offence )

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

compared to the multilayer one i got for the car . . . . that i much prefer.

on that note, here is the car from earlier. . . its still below 0 at night and very icy.

its doing any awesome job keeping snow and ice off the windscreen.

its super easy to fit, just throw it on and shut the wings in the door.

the snow and ice dont stick to it, so it shakes off ok.

and its quick and simple.

so.... . . . .

i think ill keep the T6 specific Black one for a "Rainy Day" lol ( or a summer day/night ) - as a camping blackout blind.

and get another Silver one for the Van.

ill have a measure up and post which one i decide to go for.

ill keep testing this one untill the new one arrives . . .

but i think the temp is rising over the next few days so maybe wont need a snow/ice shield?

I know what you mean about it being thin but for me it has done the job perfectly. I've used mine all week and even though its been -7 I haven't has to scrape once, I agree there is definitely a knack to putting it on but don't forget amazon will accept returns until end of January .

ill be keeping it, maybe as a summer screen? - and it still functionally works as snow ice screen.

Do you think this stuff is safe if it gets onto the paintwork?

I guess so.
You'd like to think that they wouldn't be allowed to market it as something that you spray on your car if it affected the paintwork.
I think it's mainly made of Ethanol which afaik is safe on paint.
Besides, I don't use it on the van as I have the heated windscreen, I use it on my Smart ForTwo that I use for my 60 mile daily commute, start engine, one sweep of the wipers and away you go.

It's the tips of the jets that freeze. The freezing point of the screenwash is more about preventing it from freezing when it hits the windscreen. My replacement heated screen misses a strip right in front of me. I have to wait until it's melted before driving off. If I move off with a strip of ice on the screen, with the freezing air blasting at it, it will never melt. At least now jets are under the bonnet. In the old days when they were on the top of the bonnet, heated or not, it stood no chance.
My heated windscreen has a strip around 5cm wide just above the centre of the steering wheel that is always the last area to clear

Tried some lukewarm water in a sealable freezer bag this morning. Wiping it across the glass defrosts the windscreen quite well and keeps your hand warm. Although had to go in for a refill as the water got too cold and I got impatient.
I’ll probably just stick to the caveman scraper.

Yeah it does work but takes a few refills and time, hot water is best

That's mad you say that....

I see some random guy doin that they other day....

I was thinking driving past him ..... "Is that guy using a sandwich bag full of warm water to defrost his windscreen"

So it's a thing then.

Glad I’m not the only one

I forgot about this post. I bought the thin screen cover also (sorry no pictures). It does work but I agree it does appear flimsy. I can imagine it tearing soon. But I also wondered about a blackout blind when it was on. My worry would be water leaking into the cabin with those covers tucking over the doors.
Used my side door to gain entry the next day and nipped between the seats to pop the engine on to defrost/heat the van prior to the school run.

Edit, folding drying is a pita. I put it on my kitchen floor and mopped it dry. But I actually managed to get it back in the bag it came in!! Bonus!!

I use a super cheap flimsy set on both our cars. Think they were from Tesco.

You think it can't work, but the past week yo just peel it off, leave it in the garage to drip, and the windscreen is free from ice when it's an inch thick on the van.

Even at the top where it doesn't sit tight against the screen.

Never had any water through the doors where it is trapped, but I've never left them on in the rain.
