Best way of putting poptop down?

Usually it is me doing the roof and she checks outside to see that the canvass is not trapped. But she wanted to try closing it for when she takes the van away on her own if I'm out with work. Don't worry, I'm not sat directing her whilst I sip my cocktails.
Only joking. Just funny what you said

New to this forum so not sure how to ask a question….. I had an austop fitted approximately 10 months ago and have only put it up twice. I find it extremely difficult to pull down with the straps and takes every bit of my three weetabix. I am frightened of going somewhere and not being able to get it down. Is it normal for them to be like this. TIA

Use your weight and not your arm strength. Wrap the straps around your hands with arms extended upwards then drop yourself down at the knees, that should get the difficult part done and you can then lower and fold as required.

I'm also new to this forum and at the risk of sounding stupid I also confess to having sweats with my pop top.
When it was new I needed to insert small inflatable wedges just to get it started then hup up it would spring.
Bringing it down was a nightmare, I mean you would need to be a giant to reach the handles you are supposed to pull on.
I would be hanging on long straps with feet off the ground then bang as it almost broke my neck with the force of the closure.
But with more frequent ups and downs I found it got easier, no need for wedges now and I can better judge how much pull is needed
to bring it down, and it pauses halfway now giving me time to fold and tuck before letting it close fully.
Perhaps they just need broken in or something.
So just you push and pull as often as you can until you get the hang of it. It just takes longer if you are small and light.
No more need to panic thinking you will have to drive home with roof up.lol
