Bulkhead removal and sale?

Hello,

So I finally got my T6.1 today (very happy, you lucky lot having one already!)

So being absolutely TERRIBLE at all things diy, I am planning to remove the bulk head (full size) myself!

I want daylight coming into the back of the van.

Is it just removing the bolts and then taking it out,if so, I can do that (just bout) if I can find a spanner!

Then if I do take it out, do I just skip the bulk head or is is to value and shall I put it up for sale?

I’m not a vip member yet so please don’t feel this is sneaky and free way to advertise my bulk head, I just don’t know what the hell to do with it and know my wife won’t want it in front garden blowing around all winter chopping down all the shrubs !

Any advice would be great fully appreciated!! :)

If its the metal one just behind the drivers seat it will leave some sharp metal edges.

People who remove the bulk head for conversion drill out / grind the spot welds and remove the lip.

Sent mine to scrap.

If you want a nice neat finish, you will need to drill out and grind out the support brackets along the floor and the B pillars (where the seat belts are)

The bulkhead isn't worth anything unfortunately. Our local scrap man takes ours away for free and I'm just happy he collects them.
There are a couple of torx bolts hidden behind your cab roof trim which holds it in place on the roof too. This trim pops down with a little pull. I trim tool is ideal if you have one.
Once removed it will leave a 1 inch steel fixing flange.
This is the bit that isn't has easy to remove compared to the main part.

I think getting the bulkhead out is fairly easy. If you’re not a confident DIYer then I’d go to one of the van specialists / converters and get a price to remove the fixing lip.

Alternatively, you could just buy some window edge trim to snap on the (dangerous) edge.

What are your long term plans for the vehicle - this may help you decide??

I want to make a lovely day van, with a rostering twin seat, but think even at th bull head stage, a professional might be a better option!!

That’s fantastic!! Thank you! That could do for now until a professional look at it for me. I just want some say light in the back for now!

Thank you everyone. I’ve just watched the video! Nearly cried how difficult it looks and gained aMASSIVE appreciation for the professionals who do all the work from carpet fitting, bulk head removal and window installation. Decided I am not even going to try any of this, I am not any where near competent enough for this type of work anyone around North wales/ north west who could do such professional work?
