Clipper BM2 Battery Monitor usable with a LiFepo4?

I recently swapped out my 6yr old AGM leisure battery for a Fogstar 105ah. My old Clipper BM2 battery monitor does light up and show a reading for both starter and the new leisure battery but I got hold of the user manual to see if I need to reset or initialise it. Sad to read it's listed as only for lead acid batteries but it's got me wondering why? Can anyone who knows the technicalities advise? Should I disconnect it sharpish?

assuming its one of these. . .

i cant see a reason why it wont work.

for the voltage and current.

but what will show IFFY will be the 0-100% bar graph,

as the AMG can only use 50% DOD,

where as a lithium can use 100% DOD.

so the meter may show 0% SoC with a lithium . . . where as in real life its only 50%.

most decent modern Lifepo4s have a BT app ,

so for the Fogstar you can use that to varify the SoC.

Cheers Dell, that all makes sense. I’ll be happy if it does just that - show voltage and current - and I couldn’t see why that would present a problem for the new Fogstar.

I’ll run it for a while and see how it goes.

Sweet. Post back here your result....

To see if they match up with our expectations.
