I have a gearbox which needs replacing and am struggling to find one with the same code as mine (KUP). I wondered if anyone knows of a list of compatible gearbox codes which are interchangeable with my own?

I have a T5.1 2011 6 speed manual 2.0L 140bhp, gearbox code KUP. I have searched and searched and could only find one with that specific KUP code which had already sold. There are lots for sale with codes PAW, LRS, PAP etc but I am worried that these will not be compatible so don't want to purchase just in case.

I've hit a brick wall so any help would be appreciated greatly.

I have a T5.1 2011 6 speed manual 2.0L 140bhp, gearbox code KUP.
PAW = four-wheel drive 6-speed box
LRS = 5-speed

I guess the best bet would be the PAP.

Seems to be a newer box (built from 05/2012 as opposed to 09/2009 of KUP).
Both (KUP,PAP) were equipped with same engines (2.0 litres: 103kW, 132kW) and FWD. They have same gearing ratios.

Possibly also PAU would work (interestingly was installed only with 2.0 l 103 kW (not 132kW)
Possibly also MKB - with tachograph preparation (probably a rare one)

All the above based on my interpretation of Workshop Manual - 6-speed manual gearbox 0A5 (Transporter 2010-)

Have you asked dealer for a replacement (part number) - their system should know

Well, interestingly KUP and PAP show as separate items as spare parts. Unfortunately KUP replacements don't fall directly into same part number as PAP. So I would check with dealer what they have.

I didn't say thank you for this information so thank you - very helpful indeed and it matched exactly with what I managed to find out from a VW transporter gearbox specialist in Birmingham.

Did you do this swap in the end? I’ve had this swap done and it performs beautifully, unfortunately the cruise control wasn’t compatible. Is this something you have experience of?
