VW T5.1 being upgraded to T6 4motion running gear

mmi … and all thank you for your assistance first … it’s really good
Sorry for the tardy reply I’m just getting back from a deserved weekend, put 300+ miles in van, ran well, I will respond fully on pc…
I will be running the wheel sensors and Haldex engagement operation scans tomorrow, but it does feel more planted and a little push from the rear, nothing like a pure quattro awd but certainly not like a 2wd either… scans will tell.
31mpg constant, bit more than before but seems more constant as I reset the avg. a bit…
Interesting about engine codes as I returned the cat and brackets from a 140ps caac dsg … I did read somewhere that T5’s were made up from all different stock … maybe it’s an ongoing thing…

So I ran some scans today, did a full scan, I almost depleted my battery friday night with the cool box, so that threw the trans error code, cleared and stayed that way.
I changed the haledx vehile information to 0501, it has accepted it, but the description was vehicle unknown... left it as 0501.
Changed haldex aucoustic to increased traction, on 2nd csv file I used sport mode on gearbox, so slight inc rease in haldex pump actuation is seen.
I'm still reading through your replies, yeah my old cable didn't work, wouldn't communicate with vehicle after I updated the software, I can't access the old email, if I remember it and didn't take it further with them, but I do have an account with ross-tech, legit interfaces.
so I will sink a bit deeper into the web site you provided and will ask a few things no doubt, especially the software revisions if I'm having a senior moment .... lol
so attached is todays hooky scan .... warts farts an all..... 2x hooky csv files as well .... haldex engagement etc..

Yeah your all pretty awesome infact ... help is great ...
Also could please check what's documented in VCDS Long Coding helper about engine. Would be great for future reference if could make screenshots about those (Alt-PrintScreen, paste into Paint, save into a file... post here)

Unfortunately I don't have that data about your engine - but would expect to see something similar to this (from T6 EU6 engine)

The Haldex is receiving data from the ABS - that's good news.

A bit difficult to "see" through Haldex pump PWM signal - too many parameters slow sampling.

Perhaps you could record only the following and then do another test on a single gear.
IDE00920 Front left wheel speed
IDE04502-MAS04730 Haldex clutch status-Degree of blockage
IDE05707 Haldex clutch pump: current

DSG Coasting off. Select manually a gear (3rd ?). Do a max acceleration pull from approx. 1200 rpm to 2500+ rpm. Then let van slow down back to approx. 1200 rpm (without touching pedals).

Anyways, plotted beginning from file LOG-22-IDE00920_&8.CSV

1660074165886.png

The two Haldex parameters - PWM and current are essentially the same data - thus to improve sampling rate my proposal above.

the description was vehicle unknown... left it as 0501.
I'm not sure if this is much more descriptive - for the vehicle class 05xx

So this byte for engine coding seems to be same for EU5 and EU6 engines. I noticed in the log that you had tried tweaking also other bits without success.

Yes sure I wont be able to make any captures tonight as had a drink now, but I will select just 3 and see if this reveals a bit better detail.

"...for the vehicle class 05xx"
That explains it a bit to me but I dont have any selection on this van.

If I did my calculations correctly the following should be valid codings - indeces in [bracket] just refer back to my notes :

508724AD89A90A9B24A59173C96412 [D] The current
708764AD99A90E9B26A59973A96410 [E] Combined with @WillWillWill thus CFCA+DSG+4M

The differenecs in the two above (in addition to VIN)
View attachment 167732

Two more below - however if the above is not accepted then probably I have miscalculated something.

608764AD19A9069B26A59873A96410 [F] RHD CFCA DSG 4M from VW California Eberspacher Remote
508724AD91A90A9B24A58973C96412 [K] RHD CAAC MAN 4M from T5.1 OPS Retrofit help needed
Great ... now on laptop and have glasses on too ... amazing work @mmi .... thanks ..
I will give the [E] code a go tomorrow, then I will try [F] & [K].
Any special security access codes to break into the ABS unit ..?
12233 or 27971 ..? both pass the security request, but whether they can access the ABS I am not sure

Okay so your last code :508724AD91A90A9B24A58973C96412
seems to have worked, Manual.....!! but CAAC engine..
1660127262413.png
I will post the scan in a bit when done, bbut I gone through your codes top to bottom .....
Looks like I'm owing you plenty of beerage my friend .... no faults but will look into ABS coding again.

Engine module still wont accept awd in coding byte change ...?
logged in of course...

Please try to tick the "Trailer installed" for your engine. It is definitely a proper coding. E.g in the link below is a scan of exactly the same engine software "03L 906 019 FK 9978" but engine coded for installed trailer controller.

01 25 40 12 23 24 00 08 00 00 rolla
01 25 40 12 23 34 00 08 00 00 rover220 at Ross-Tech Forum

If this is rejected - the culprit must be the cable ??? confused.png Those older generation cables are known to fail to code at least T6 EU6 engines - perhaps the same issue also with EU5 engine?

Okay trailer will be ticked... I need to adjust the installation list also now as noticed the NAV is not pulled into the scan... minor detail..

Here is todays hooky scan ..... I have cut it from yesterdays scan, as I didn't close my session ....
.. this Long code has no navigation, I will go into the inst. list and have a look as soon as I can.
I am pretty chuffed that you helped me sort it out on this .... so much I been on the cocktails in the sun ...

Thanks for the scan - very illuminating to see step by step full coding history with the related fault codes

Actually it seems that the ABS accepted all the codes and the fault "Control Module Incorrectly Coded" cleared with all of them. That's a good bit of data...

However, interestingly the two codes which originated from CFCA engines introduced another fault confused.png

Then just another test point to try - wondering what faults the ABS reports now if you disconnect the power to Haldex controller?

Sure no problem, I think I cut the session right, from the day before's log file, I did want you to see the previous coding attempts, all sessions had been logged in but when I tried to make an adaption, it came back as secuirity code required again, logged in I mean in programming level, security codes already accepted.
I could use my brothers cable, I updated the firmware rev. on that but cant remember what fashion it is, it does can bus, he messed up my hex-usb.... so rather leave that.
I will do the 3x log points as you earlier suggested, so I don't slow the data stream by overloading it,
I will pop the haldex connector off also to see the reported change..... that will be interesting.
I will complete this post as it is almost there and start a new post about my faults, NAV faults... component speakers did that I think, resident CAN gateway were hidden but there when I got the van 3years ago...

but I gotta fix Harley's today as i promised over 2months ago to my bud.....
this german crap has stolen way too much of my life .... diesel claim rebate ..?? I want a life rebate from VW more like ... :slow rofl:

Hi! Recently, dsg+haldex was installed on CAAC (vw t5.2) The car is going, there are no mistakes. The only thing they couldn't do was encode 5 bytes of Ecu using 4-motion. Encoding is out of range! All we had to do was change the version (SW) of the ECU software.
Current software version for today 03l906019jm
This is a version of the car with front-wheel drive dsg.

Do you know which Haldex - part number?

True, however a bit of challenge would be it's software (03l906019jm) fulfilled EU3/EU4 emission regulations - thus CAAC engine without DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) eek.gif

A little later I'll post a full scan of the machine.

I'm sure 03l906019fk is suitable for a car with dpf

Well done and good news it is all operational ... welcome to increased fuel consumption group for a little push from behind ..... lol
So CAAC 4-mo was produced as a eu5 but not as an auto ... only manual it seems, thanks to @mmi for his scouring of built ecu files from a data bases, probably due to increased fuel consumption and VW just couldn't get away there pack of lies saying it does 50+mpg(my estimate they gave..) .... lol
Who did the convertion ..?
Can you add anything more about the build ..? what generation haldex have you fitted ..? is it from a van or say an audi TTrs3 ...?
Hows the power..? has it had a remap ..? last thing get me a average fuel consumption please ..?

I fitted the 4mo stainless exhaust system to mine so it spools a bit quicker, cat to tail pipe, blocked off the blue-rinse and remade my dpf pre & post flow sensor pipes, re-calibrated it and passed system test.
