Dash Centre Storage-Tray

Good idea but I bet in practice it’s not that simple. Hopefully some clever 3D printing guys might come up with something as I think they would sell.

That’s smart! Nice job
If I still had an old fashioned pantograph cutter I’d copy it and flog them. There are no straight edges on that dash recess so it’s all done with templates and gauges, PITA if you don’t have the van very near the workshop.

Sorry mate..failed to look at the pic properly,i've got the glove box.But the same thing applies i.e not taking the dashboard to bits!

Ha ha ha! Add tripping over 2 x sprogs and 2 x dogs on each run between the van and (the absolute bomb-site that is called) my “workshop” to the equation...!

I was wondering if anyone had been able to source a solution to finding a lid for this storage tray? If you look on eBay there appears to be a product that fits the bill, then I read on here it doesn’t fit. I don’t want to risk things going wrong at this late stage. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks again.

It pops out easy enough by levering gently up at the centre.
I needed a place to hide my Garmin satnav / reversing camera monitor so I made a hinged cover. By chance it also keeps the sun off the Garmin screen so it’s always visible.

Can I ask how you secured the hinge to the acrylic sheet & also to the van. There is no sign of screws in the pictures so what did you use?

Araldite Rapid epoxy adhesive, very messy, if i made another I’d try another method.
If you us an adhesive mask of well.

Yes mate, that was a few months ago.
I bought it, then after reading the nightmares that everyone else had, I decided not to bother trying so put it back on ebay & made a tenner profit......result

Glad I didn't bother in the end because I bought a dehumidifier bag to stop condensation on the windscreen, which I keep in the dash top cubby.....best £15 I've spent on the van

I'm one of those who hasn't got an OEM satnav and therefore use a TomTom or my phone which sits very nicely in the centre space using a magnetic mount. I can't understand why a lot moan about it.

I would like to do this, can anyone tell me how to get the 12v wires up to this meter?
I have removed the trim and the dash is sealed/solid behind the trim. I can drill a hole for wires etc. I was just wondering if the (fused) wires should be taken off the nearby12v cigarette socket or from the main internal fuse box?

Does anybody know if retrofitting the 12V socket is as easy as buying no 7 & 8, removing the plastic shelf and plugging everything in? Is the harness already inside?

Check out the ‘where the clips are’ thread in ‘Interiors, Seating, Lining’, I took that cover off in there.
