Dash Switch Wiring

Where did you get this Button ? I dont find it in ETKA, and how did you wire it ? I changend my Aux, Heater to work with the original VW key and with the Roof Display. But i would like to have this fancy Button as well. :D
Thanks in Advance!
It is the switch for the original heated rear window (tailgate) modified with a customized button cap.
To change the original icon (window heating) you‘ll have to sand the cap, spraypaint it and then it is just lazering the new icon.

I made a few switches for members of the german Tx-Forum and I think there is one left. I can send a picture later this day, just write me a pm and we‘ll see if I can help.

I am looking to get a switch for my dash camera. I am interested in lazering a new icon. How do you do that?

You'll need a diode or fibre lazer machine if you want to do it by yourself - but it takes some time of research to find out the correct settings for the lazering machine (this is very individual, depending on the power of the lazer module and the thickness of the spraypaint on your button cap and other factors). It is a project in itself... and me too I am still testing (try and error...).

As an overview the steps are:
- buying the original VW button for the heated rear window as described in my post (if you want the button to sit on that position)
- prepare the cap (sanding, spraypainting) - chosing the right spray paint colour is another project in this process...
- decide which icon you want, you'll need the file as .pdf or .dwg or any vectorised file format for best results
- if you don't want to do the lazering by yourself you can go to a printing store or to one of the (what we call them) "key-makers" that you possibly find at large supermarkets - maybe they can help...

Remember all the VW "switches" in your dashboard are buttons, not switches (you now the difference between button and switch). If you want something like "on/off" with permanent state you'll need some extra electronics.

After saying all this - why do you need a switch for your dashcam? Sorry for asking... most of the dashcams are switching automatically from recording to parking mode when connected to live and ignition...
