I think that might be exactly the effect I'm after. If I don't blow my van or these lights up trying to get them to work I'll get some of the ones from scr

As above regarding using a 12v set. I found a strip on Amazon that are 12v, colour changing, app controlled and also have a little remote which I keep in the glovebox. The stuck neatly in my Halo gap and have been fine for the last few years.

I bit the bullet last night and ordered some from scr, saves the messing about and do exactly what I want them for. I'm going to use the Costco ones in my lads room, he's going to come home from school to have underside of his bed glowing like a 90s boy racer hatchback

Fitted and carpeted the frame, got the lights installed so I have my own "halo" roof with my poptop roof. Happy with the results, cheers for all your advice chaps!

@bdnck don't forget that you can set it to change to the music using the smartphone app.
I put a small switch between the fuse and the bluetooth controller as it has quite a power draw even when the lights are turned off.

That's a really good idea thanks, I've got some fuses knocking about. I'm adding a 12v DC regulator Tomo to stabilise the current so will add this in as well!
