Dead battery not jump-starting

Yeah I fear it will be over to Alpine. I did reset the HU with the USB in the back hoping on reboot it would see the USB and kick into the upgrade but sadly not.

What HU do you have installed?
 
Buggeration! I’m surprised it didn’t initiate automatically from the USB. Can you get to any of the menus to get to “factory reset”? Probably not as the firmware is half-arsed. Over to Alpine, I fear!
There are some Alpine gurus on here. Spin up a new thread “Alpine Firmware fail” and call out for help.

I picked up my Cali in Sept so it’s the VW unit with CarPlay and reversing camera.
 
Ah I see, I got mine a week ago, 2yrs old with 19000 on the clock.

How far in the attached did you get before battery died?

It had just started part 4.
 
Will give it a go first thing tomorrow. Fingers crossed it does the trick.
I’ve not given up on the HU just yet but looking around to see what the options are in case. :rolleyes:

Good call. No point peeing off the neighbours/missus firing up the van. I have bid responses to assess now the kids are in bed!
 
Finished off my quotes around 5ish today.

Hey @JOG, funnily enough I posted it to the senior tech at Alpine UK this afternoon.

He said this in his email “I can take a look at your unit to recover it” so of it went.

No charge so long as it’s only Software which I know it is.

I have to say I am very impressed with the Alpine customer service and aftercare.
 
Lovely. Will be next week before you have it back. As you say, they are responding and doing something about it!
 
The tech will get it tomorrow AM I have posted it guaranteed before 1pm.

I am hoping he gets to work on it straight away and I may get it back for the weekend. That would be bloody awesome
 
Yes, should be a simple job to flash it "on the bench" and send it back with the latest version too. You'd be up and running (with nowhere to go!) by the weekend. Does this mean that your dash is in pieces until then?!!
 
Nah I couldn’t bare the dash being everywhere so I put it all back. Neat freak you see. :rolleyes:
