Delivery delays???

Velles, Cali's and Shuttles (M1) have auxiliary heater box in the back. Supplying two heater matrix means longer warm up times for the engine and higher emissions as a consequence. Just a thought.

Bit of a concern. My Shuttles due a service shortly around its second birthday in February. Had planned on main dealer for warranty reasons. Think I'll maybe put it in early before VW get chance to come up with a software fix/farce and potentially ruin it's current characteristics.

I wonder what's different with respect to the M1 and N1 engines?

M1 is for transportation of passengers up to 8 persons.
N1 is for carriage of goods up to 3500kg

There is more strict rules for NOx on M1 -8o mg/km, whereas the N1 has up to 125mg/km.(class3)

http://www.rsa.ie/Documents/Vehicle... and commercial vehicles amended Feb 2012.pdf

So the if the real world driving NOx value for both N1 and M1 currently sits somewhere between 80 and 125mg, the question is by how much is this value over the required 80mg. Then surely there would have to be a built in margin for assured compliance across all M1 vehicles reducing the 80mg still further.

What engine sophicating mod is VW going to come up with for this I wonder? Will the current state of tune for M1's allow vehicles to pass Mot's emission test without getting remapped or modified to the new specification?

Or can we avoid remapping which will undoubtedly be a bad thing from a drivers point of view. 150 shuttle owner too

Update info time...

Following the article from Honest John last week:

Emissions problem forces Volkswagen to halt production of California, Caravelle, shuttle and window van

No-one at VW seems to know (or want to share) how long this could take to resolve, or what may need to be done to enable existing T6 M1 vehicles to become compliant with the relevant NO x emissions standards. Another software update (detune) on the way? Will the vehicle you bought actually still be the vehicle you saw in the showroom and wanted?

This issue could be running into mid-February & some sources apparently allegedly even think mid-March. Not good.

VW says halts multivan deliveries amid emissions 'uncertainties'
Hello mate
I am in a similar position. Ordered a WAV caravelle in may 2017 should have taken delivery in October 2017. Did not hear anything from VW or conversion company until I chased two weeks before swap over date. Only until I chased did I know there was a delay . In a nutshell I have been told today that my van is due to be built second week in feb and I will be lucky to get for may 2018 . It will have taken a year to order a van....
How does VWs business model work and why isn’t this in the media to bring some pressure on the company.

Hi all,

Hope someone can shed light...

We currently run a T5 Caravelle Executive for our son through Motability. After several years of trying to get the dealer(s) to accept random canbus/electrical issues (most significantly repeated failure of electric sliders), the vehicle was due to be changed back in September. Unfortunately, VW , in their infinite wisdom, decided to build as White LWB MANUAL Shuttle when one with an AUTOMATIC had been ordered! Paperwork read Automatic on EVERY copy, including delivery docs - shame it had a 6-speed stickshift. How can you forget to put an Auto box in and suddenly find you've stuck a manual one in instead?

Back to Conversion company, re-order, told it would be an "express build" and would be fast tracked as it had been VW's mistake! Mistake?

This took from 9th Sept to 6th Nov!

Now delivered to the UK and due to be 'in build' at the converters around 12th November. I call yesterday (19/12/17) for an update to be told: "sorry sir, your van is finished, but we can't register it, we've just had a message from VW."

Naturally, I query what is going on, to be told that VW have put a 'STOP' on all T6 Caravelles being taxed/delivered as they " haven't been correctly registered with the Authorities." OK, Dieselgate and now not being registered correctly - what the heck is going on with VW? Why aren't they being honest about it? Scared of negative publicity? I wonder...?

This apparently means delivery will be delayed into the middle of January 2018!

Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

Yours,

A very confused (& not very happy) Moose.:confused::confused:

We've been in the same situation. Ordered a T6 in Feb 2017 for our disabled Son and finally got a delivery date of 19th Feb 2018 - but with a caveat! Here are a couple of paragraphs from the letter received today! They have only agreed to deliver vehicles for disabled clients.

"In the course of standard tests to verify the conformity of current series production of T6 diesel models with passenger car registration (known as M1 registration), Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles found potential deviations from emission standards in certain vehicles. "

"Following investigations, it is possible that a software update for your vehicle might be offered to you at some point during 2018. That update, if implemented, might in some scenarios result in changes to your vehicle’s fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and taxation. "

I waited 7 months to get the wrong van delivered. Stealership franchise couldn’t of cared less, were more intrested in trying to sell me finance on a new campaign

I reckon you must top the chart for delivery. 12 months, that is truly appalling. I’d be equally unimpressed with their rather woolly statement around software modifications as well. Hope it all gets sorted to the positive so that you and your son can start making the most of the vehicle, to do what you need it to.

Having spent £30k on adaptions with a 3rd party we had no choice. We would have cancelled if we had known.

Exactly the same letter here. Last paragraph has VW putting the responsibility entirely on the purchaser/end user, offering cancellation "at no charge" if we don't want to go ahead...

What a fantastic business model........... not.

We got a solicitor to deal with the delivery terms - that doesn't look good! Its been such a nightmare I wasn't prepared to agree anything. It seems VW are on the same business model as Kodak!

VW business model & the media... if I was a conspiracy theorist, I might wonder how much advertising revenue could be lost if there was to be too much negative publicity. Hmmm

I wonder if VW will be re-running those adverts showing all different breeds of dog, riding in the back of different VW models...

The only way to get them to change their behaviour is to stop buying their product.

As for the incompetent and ignorant dealerships, do yourself and your van a favour by using a specialist independent.

The EU is affording total protection of VW and the German manufacturing industry. Animal experiments? That story was not allowed to take hold.

Wonder if this will affect any PV or Kombis being converted then registered as M1?

Looks like all T6 M1 category vehicles will have "software update at VW's expense". Fuel economy, power, taxation class & emissions issues... Here they go again?

Like Mikey's above, some of us have no option to cancel as special needs conversions already completed on vehicles which have been finished & left sitting at converter's for 6 - 8 weeks - fascinating how VW trying to place responsibility on buyers.:mad::thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

It's one thing to even be given the "choice" to cancel without charge - quite another if you're already driving your T6 M1 having purchased last autumn & HAVEN'T YET FOUND OUT THERE'S EVEN A PROBLEM!

Open & honest - that's a truly great manufacturer for you

Any update on solicitor looking at this? Just wondering if the letter is even legally binding given the Consumer Rights Act of 2015.

Priceless business model... "Here you are sir, buy a nice new widget from us. What you buy might be the one we actually send you in a few months time but, then again, it might not. Oh yes, we may change the specification, fiddle with it and make it into something you did not order - but you're stuffed if you're not happy with it 'cos we make the best widgits in the world. We might even decide to have it back and change it so it costs you more to keep it, but that's OK because you said we could do what we liked, when we felt like it. We keep telling you ours is the best widgit, so it must be true; and, well, you keep buying them anyway...
