Dissappointing Heated Windscreen

My Volvo heated screen clears in seconds, but the elements cut off in a line about 2" away from the A pillar on each side which leaves you with a mahoosive blind area until the aircon clears the rest of the screen

Ahhh, that explains why Volvo drivers fail to see you at junctions in the winter :whistle:

great car - lots of fun

I agree. I've just purchased a brand new one for my wife. The reason I asked is because I cannot seem to find an answer from either Mini, or the internet to a question.
I had the demo Cooper S for 3 days before buying mine. This was exactly the same engine and double clutch box, with all the same driving modes. The demo one when in Sport had a nice feature. If you drove it enthusiastically using the paddles, it would blip the throttle on downshift, plus as you pushed hard through the gears on the upshift, it would make a satisfying bang between gear changes. Ok, this is a little childish, but I loved the noise it made, and a car like that is purchased on it's fun factor as well as everything else.
Now, the new one won't do this. It has the burble from the exhaust in Sport, but that's it. No one knows why at Mini, and I cannot find an answer on the internet. I'm assuming it's because the car is new, and only covered 150 miles so far, but wondered if you had any idea?

To get those noises (they call them pops and bangs :D) on mine, sport mode has to be on and the engine needs to be warm. I read somewhere that in sport mode, it injects a tiny bit of fuel in on overun to get effect.
Maybe it needs to be run in before it goes bananas?
I've had some fast road bikes (bmw) that are slightly restricted until first service and running in are complete

You picked a great car for fun factor - I've had MUCH faster and more powerful (read pricey) cars in the past that were nowhere near as much fun. The miini feels fast even when driven normally.
My next one will be the John Cooper Works model with a "manic motors" remap - vrrrroooooom ...

It's one of the reasons I swapped her Copper SD for this, plus Mini are no longer doing diesels.
I actually love driving a Mini, they are buckets of fun, but this new one is a different level.

@dmk
What was your previous vehicle ?
A VW or something else?
Ford were the first to come out with this and own the patent, so the likelihood is it is not the same as that to avoid a patent breach.

Pretty sure I remember reading that their patent ran out a few years ago now

We have just swapped our 5 door cooper sd for a new MX-5 2.0 - much more fun than the SD, but I'm hoofing around the SD at the moment while waiting for my van to be mended. They are good cars, but tempted to see if I could get a 3 door cooper S petrol for a run around. Something nice about having a smaller car! Missing my van though.
