Dpf

Evening all
I’ve got a 2020 with 54,000 miles and have been told by vw it needs a dpf. They’ve had it 4 weeks and it’ll be at least another 3 until they can get one
Should it really need a dpf so soon ? It’s not like it’s an old van and as you can see by the mileage it doesn’t just go to the shops and back. It’s up and down the m6 and m62 at least a couple of times a week
And
Should it take so long for vw to get hold of one ?

This being done under warranty?

Running low fuel will prevent regens. Which can leads to excessive dpf buildup.

The dpf can be flushed with a mobile guy and chemical etc.

So you paying for this, or is this warranty.?

If I recall, VW won't entertain flushing it as it makes them less money.
If it's defective, they prefer to replace it and maximise profit. Typically they won't have the tooling or expertise (or desire) to do anymore than nuts and bolts.

Initially they said they’d pay 70% of the cost but I’m arguing that as it’s taking so long
I always fill to the brim and run it until it gets to about 100 miles left in the tank then fill up again.
I did ask the question about flushing it as it was taking so long to get the part but they said no , they don’t do that
Are they so hard to get hold of ?

not sure on the supply chain.

but VW wont flush clean the DPF, only the EGR.

Seriously thinking of a dpf/eve delete as an option for the future

Was your aware that it's illegal to drive on UK roads like that?

The question is. Why has the DPF blocked. If you're not running at low fuel levels. Do you do lots of short journeys?

Are you burning excessive oil?

Have you looked into having a mobile DPF clean done at your house?

I know I’ll just have to wait for the part to come in , just surprised how long it’s taking
