DSG and high miles..

Hi all, new to the group and excited to own a 2017 multivan this week.
Maybe I’m over thinking… it’s Auto it has done 80k kms. It’s a little tricky to find the D or R as it slips between quite easily with no easy demarcation.
Also only other thing to note is that going down longer descents at higher speeds (say 70-85kms/hr) it tends to hold a lower gear and revs increase.
Might be nothing, it does need a service which I will have done next week.

Hi Chris, welcome to the forum.

The holding revs downhill is an intentional engine-braking "feature". If you want/are able to, accelerate to ~3k rpm and it should change up and then brake back down to the speed you require. It's annoying, but as designed.

The slipping easily between D and R though, that doesn't sound right. It's not that it's difficult to move between the 2, but, certainly on my van, there's a distinct feel as it moves through N and then on to R - there's no mistaking/missing it.

Thank you so much, at least not 2 potential issues!
I can feel the difference between the engagements but it seems just to be they each have quite a finite amount space for each, so it’s harder to find and easier to go from one to the other. It stays in position and does not slip. But certainly not distinct. Maybe cable?

Advise the vendor to fix it if they want a sale, if it’s not your van yet it’s not your problem.

Maybe cable?
No idea mate - I'm not mechanically minded, but @DXX (above) is and if he thinks there's a problem to be fixed, then I'd go with that.

Not sure what consumer rights are like in Oz, but if they're anything like here in the UK (and presuming you purchased from a dealer), then you could demand the dealer fix it and, if they can't/won't, then to reject the van for a full refund.
