We bought T6 from new 4 years ago. Serviced fully with dealership VW garage. Noises coming from gearbox last week so had it checked out. It's going to need a brand new gear box. No explanation. Told they should last the life time of the van. You would hope so with a 55k price tag. Cost 7.5k!!!! Has anyone else had any similar experience with their DSG?
DSG requires replacement at 80k miles in our 4 year old T6-anyone else experienced this?
Wow! I’d take that to a gearbox specialist for a 2nd opinion if I were you
A chap I know had his T5.1 140 DSG box rebuilt by Bristol Gearbox Centre, they did a good job and it’s still running perfectly after 50k since the rebuild. Mind, it had covered 220k when it was done. Hopefully VW will cover some of the cost if you go down that route with your dealer. Did the box have a 40k service?
I would offer VW the very quick opportunity to diagnose a fault and not just create an invoice. I predict that they won’t have a clue so it’s probably best to take it to an automatic transmission specialist.
