eBay Scammers

Thank You, both. I tried getting a bit forceful on them suggesting I'll take legal action. They literally didn't care

Reported it just now. Suggested that as eBay must hold some details on the seller they ought to be the ones calling the Police rather than telling others too and just letting fraud go unchecked.

Tested market for mine back in Jan. Autotrader. Chap called asking if I’d send a quick whatsapp vid. Sure thing. All went quiet. Few weeks later a guy messaged via AT saying same van was on eBay. The vid was part of the ad (and I’d sent only to that one person). Reported reported rereported to eBay etc. nothing happened.

On Easter Sunday, some weeks after my AT ad expired, Plod knocked on my door, just after I’d taken the lamb out of the oven. ‘Is this your van mr scenic?’. Bla bla bla. (My first thought was ffffffkkk what’s its history - we did as many credit, vin, hpi checks as we could before buying) ?? Apparently someone had paid ‘a substantial holding deposit’ to the eBay scamming tw*t and obvs there was no van to buy.

made a statement to plod, have heard nothing further. I’ll never ever use eBay again.

At least plods visit gave to lamb time to rest.

These scammers are despicable but why are people putting down deposits on vehicles they've never actually seen? It seems mad to me.
I bought my van privately and drove 200 miles to view it. Only after a thorough inspection and lengthy test drive did I pay for the van, which I then drove home.

Worrying

I know yeah, scary really.

I've just been messaging the scammer, pretending I was interested in it.

I put my name as Brian Adams 69 and was using quotes out of his song like "I would do anything for this van" haha.

Then, when he asked me how I was paying, I sent him a pic of the van on the drive
