EGR fault

Well I guess that's good news if its unlikely to be the EGR clogged, I spoke to VW about the modified parts before they changed it and they said they would be using modified parts . Could it be DPF or would that give a different warning light?

You stated earlier that you had an insufficient flow error code on the EGR.

My simple diagnostics OBD11 shows fault P040100 and states Exhaust Gas recirculation - Flow insufficient

That isn’t triggered by a defective DPF.

Well I have my van back, and only 7000 miles after having my EGR changed VW diagnosed the EGR was fouled with carbon and needed a flush, so this was done (Another £350 Bill) and it seems to be running fine now with no warning light. They just said I had done too many short journeys. Need to find out how to get round this other than using another vehicle for anything under 20minutes and going on longer journeys for a joy ride just to keep it clear from carbon! It'll be interesting to know more specifics on what I should avoid and what I should do to prevent the EGR from fouling with carbon. But even then I won't know if my journey is long enough or whether its the right types of journey! I already do motorway/dual C/W trips of 90miles plus miles a couple of times a month but it seems its the 20 to 40 minute journeys that are probably causing the problem. I'll see if I can get an answer from VW

If it’s guaranteed for 2 years and it’s now clogged to the point it throws a fault then it’s time to be asking for a new one. Unless the warranty is conditional upon the type of driving you do then it’s failed.
Even so, under consumer legislation it’s not fit for purpose.
The more I read about VW the more I’m convinced they believe they can operate outside consumer rights legislation by blaming the consumer at every junction.

Just jumping on this thread. We have a 2018 t6 with the same fault code P0100, gas recirculation insufficient flow. About the same sort of mileage 47000. Is this safe to drive for any distance, ie to get to my nearest VW dealership?
The egr pipe looks like it might have been replaced before as it has two 45 degree bends? Which part is most likely to have failed to cause this fault I’m people’s experience?
Would this still be under warranty as we’ve only had the van 18 months?
I’m in Cornwall and have to say have been very unimpressed with being able to book my van into VW for a service! Can anybody recommend a good reliable VW specialist in the south west pls?

How are you getting on with your EGR warning light any luck in getting it sorted?
After having VW replace my EGR and cooler in Dec 2022 it has run fine for nearly 7000 miles and 18 months but now the Orange engine warning light has come on. My simple diagnostics OBD11 shows fault P040100 and states Exhaust Gas recirculation - Flow insufficient. Is this likely to be the new EGR at fault so covered under the 2 year parts warranty?
Why might the gas recirculation flow be insufficient? ie What could be causing it?
My van is a 2016 T28 H-LN 1968cc TDI BMT 103bhp with a mileage of 47,700miles

I Have changed to using shell Vpower diesel and BP Premium for about 4 refills to help keep things clean in hope that it will help.
Does this warning light just go off if the problem clears?
If I clear the fault can I expect it to come straight back on or might it take a while for the insufficient flow to be detected again?

If anyone can shed any light on this that would be great as this is also driving me nuts!!!!

Yo Ray got the same prob myself had new EGR fitted just over 2 yrs ago but last week just outside Edinburgh the dreaded light came on that’s 7000 mls later.Its going in to VW specialist 2moro just hoping a flush will sort it if they tell me I require a new valve will bring it home and do more research maybe get the valve mapped out. I drove it home from Edinburgh 245mls at 70mph with no issue. finally your light won’t go out on its own
