Just changed my air filter, and today engine light came on ! Connections are fine , neighbour said he had same not on a Transporter and cleared itself in a few days all because MAF was unplugged during installation of filter makes some sense ! suppose,is that about right ,over to the experts

Cheers

True that unplugging MAF triggers a fault code. However, on T6 it doesn't manifest itself as warning light. Thus it's something else.
Also the engine symbol light is emission related, and indeed it can turn off after a couple of "successful" driving cycles.

Successful driving cycles, does that mean high revs low gear to clean out emissions,

By successful I meant a driving cycle without exceeding fault threshold. The ECU monitors emissions separately for each driving cycle and when exceeding the limits the fault is flagged but manifesting as warning light quite a few fault incidents are needed (usually over consecutive driving cycles). Thus by looking deeper into fault codes background data can be seen several fault levels - pending, intermittent, active, confirmed, etc.

Unfortunately the documentation or conditions of the actual values are not available.

Then I'm confident that high revs low gears actually doesn't help, actually often quite the contrary.
