Engine Management Light - P20EE/31103 What to Do??

I did not use VW as I had had the van re mapped, I used the garage that carried out the re map.
They installed the 6163 update as part of the re map when they re installed.
I have a 2017 150 BHP van.
I don't know if £60 is a good price, but they had already charged me £680 for the NOx sensor, which in reality was not required, but that's another story

I had a vw original part Nox replaced and it cost the same and the fault code came back after 200miles. I’m not sure why to do as had no joy with pendle?

Pendleton are a reputable company. Have you spoken to the main office, it seems strange that they have not got back to you.
I had virtually the same thing, the eml came back on after 150 miles after the NOx sensor change.

I emailed but I’ll call them. I’ve emailed the pendle agent and see how far I get. It does seem it’s a software issue. Not sure how I determine what software version The van is running or I did what’s version I should ask for . My van is a 67 plate high line 102 t6??

I am no mechanic by any means, but I believe that they can only tell what update is on the van when they re install the original map from VW. As to what update your van should have, I cannot comment, I found the new update number on the forum. I think, in theory, the re mapper should be able to tell you as to what is required.

If you have vcds carista or obd eleven it will tell you what version you have. I'm due the 6163 update, having it done where i had my re map. Charge is 50 to wipe old map add new software and reinstall map or 100 to get it back on the dyno, which is what i'm going to do

I don't believe that only remapped vans are seeing this issue.

No, it's not only re mapped vans that have this issue.
When I started looking on the forum, there are quite a few differently title threads, but with the same issue.

Update installed which wiped the map . Ran it for a few thousand miles with no more EML issues . ( Different ) Map back on now & remains issue free .
I think Martin @ Pendle easier to reach by phone & doesn't get back to emails much ?

I've also got exactly the same problem as we speak. Van is a 2017 LWB 4 motion. (Only done 17K) Re-mapped by Martin at Pendle approx 3 years ago. (250bhp) Adblue light counting down now at 500 miles before it will not start.
Had the fault diagnosed as needing new EGR by Quattrotech in St Ives Cambs. Booked in for 9th March (£ 800.00) to have it fitted.

P.S. Also told by Quattrotech who are REVO agents it has deffo not got anything to do with the Pendle map !

I think it is just coincidence people are noticing after the remap and assuming the map caused the issue. As stated above it seems to be across the board and not just on vans that have been re mapped. PS PENDLE HQ only deal with people on the phone not e mail or messenger etc

Thanks I have the van booked in with the pendle agent who did the remap he’s going to put a new engine code in the van which will overnight the pendle. We shall run for a few weeks and see how that goes then have the pendle put back on. It seems form all the post this is as a software issue and my engine need to new vw coding. I’ll get back to the forum with progress.

I'm doing the same, the pendle agent is installing new software then putting van back on the dyno for the map. I havent had any issues with Nox however, i just noticed my van is due the update when i did a scan a few weeks back and don't wanna go to VW as they will wipe map.

Yes sound then same. I had the Nox replaced aNd same fault code after 200miles.
I’m not sure what code my van is running as I don’t have a reader. I’ll ask when I see the pendle agent Monday. Get back to me when you’ve had your done and we can see if it helps. Thx

So the only change with your van is software - no new EGR?

The van had only done 30k. Yes the plan is just the software. The Nox made no difference. I’m hoping the egr is okay as done very little mileage.

Like i said i haven't had any faults yet just changing sotware as i noticed it is due. Booked in mid April with pendle agent TI Motorsport

What mileage did you have when you saw the issue?

First issue was at 1000 miles ....5 times till updated software and map wiped @ 11k .
Just software update and map changes

Just picked my T6 up after being in dock for 2 days. Not a very good advert for VW,
2017 T6 4 motion 204 Bi-Turbo (17k miles)
Had to have a new EGR valve & cooler fitted £ 880.00 Also new Adblue pump fitted £ 300.00.
Bit disappointed to say the least. Could not fault the lads at my local VW specialist in St Ives Cambs, as it was the 1st one they had seen and done. Evidently changing the EGR/Cooler is a bit of a nightmare to say the least.
So maybe we can expect a few more to fail at this sort of mileage/year ??
Hopefully not !!
