Equipment - must have / useful / can't do without items

it really depends on how your camper is configured. There's only two of us and we usually eat at a table in the awning but, for colder weather, I was actually thinking about adding another smaller table with another rail above the fridge (in more or less the same place as indicated by VanDamMan above). If you can source a matching piece of material for the table top itself, the rail and leg are really quite cheap to buy. That way, one of us can sit on the swivelled bench as we prefer opposite rather than side by side. Don't see why it shouldn't sit two at a pinch. I've thought of doing it that way as I'm not really a fan of those little swivel tables that sit by the front door.
We have the rail and table system but have 2 tables that lock on it so you can either use 1 table or both 9 times out of 10 it's both one person sits on the back seats/bed the other on passenger seat swiveled

i use one of these when we are away, pretty decent.

Got a link for that ?

Peter
Hi Pete, sorry for late reply, I’ve got the same one as Sandy linked to. If you’re a bit more flush for cash then I was at the time, then Winnerwell do some nice ones with glass panels, so you can see the flames with the door closed

That is really cool! We are staying at C&CC club sites this summer (covid panic bookings) and I believe fire pits are not allowed. Do you know if these are?

Not to sure tbh, I was allowed to use it at Ashurst in the New Forest, so long as I used house coals and not wood. It’s well off the ground and self contained, so I don’t see why not. Let us know if you find out for sure.

It’s not going to happen for this summer so I’ll ask around while we are away. Tbh, we won’t usually be staying on club sites so may not be an issue after covid

I’d be interested to hear if anyone has a comfortable chair that works to eat from a camp table and still packs down small. We have standard camp chairs which aren’t comfy but fit nicely under the rib bed and aren’t high enough to sit in and eat from a table. Then we have 2 delux camp chairs which are bigger, comfy but still a little too low to eat in and are too long to fit under the bed when transporting.

We got four of these as they match the Loc8 table and we can sit around the table outside for dinner.

Nice setup! That’s a bit like the helinox chairs (although a bit cheaper). Are they comfy? Jo rejected the helinox chair I bought and we ended up returning it.

Post lockdown it looks like I may be pushing the max weight limit on those:x3:

Never seen the Helinox chairs, but just googled them and they look similar.

We find them comfortable. I’ll have them at the forum meet, so you can try them.

Hi everyone,

So whilst I continue to save my pennies to buy a campervan, I'm wondering what everybody thinks is their best "essential purchase"? It could range from a porta potti, to a shelving unit that folds away. How do you store the little things like coffee or cables? What was the best thing you ever bought for the van that you couldn't live without?

Looking forward to hearing your comments...
Cheers :)

I too am waiting for my camper and I’ve got a fair list of essentials to buy nearer the time starting with levelling ramps, a TV, mattress topper, new sleeping bags, pop top bungee, a tracker and second alarm to beef up security, ceramic paint coating, rear bumper protector, door seal upgrade, side steps, step protectors and wind deflectors. Wish list includes Leighton wheels and splitter, audio speaker upgrade, Pendle remap and tailgate chair pod.

Blue ice bricks for the cooler box also Kampa wide boy self inflating sleeping mat which fits exactly in the pop top and it’s a fraction of the cost of an mattress.
