drool....off-grid 3-180 4x4 DSG MAN TGE
This is exactly our plan. Our kids are 15/17 and I’m a few years behind you (but not many!). Van is currently transport for up to 6 people but will be converted in a couple of years to enable SWMBO and I to sleep in. Mainly for weekends away while SWMBO still working but then a bit of touring.Got mine 2018 had it converted the plan is to keep it forever I've always camped under canvas I'm 60 packed up work now this is just the next phase of camping for me I still regard it as cheap holidays my 2 boys did centre parcs in the summer holidays with their kids £1600 each family for 4 night break
We took the grandkids 4 nights they called it glamping in the van £220
Think of the cheese!I think the only way I’ll sell my van is if I ever find myself in the position of being able to afford an off-grid 3-180 4x4 DSG MAN TGE.
don't start this again!Think of the cheese!
Im somewhat hoping the T6's and T6.1's as the last true VW transporters will someone follow the Cuban theme and we will be patching them up for a long time to come or until diesel is no longer sold.
That's commitment right there!Defo not selling mine.
In fact we have got two now.....
One for work and one for daily/camper
Yeah, "upgrading" to a MAN/Crafter seems to be another trend.I think the only way I’ll sell my van is if I ever find myself in the position of being able to afford an off-grid 3-180 4x4 DSG MAN TGE.
A LWB diesel as a halfway house? This is exactly our plan. Our kids are 15/17 and I’m a few years behind you (but not many!). Van is currently transport for up to 6 people but will be converted in a couple of years to enable SWMBO and I to sleep in. Mainly for weekends away while SWMBO still working but then a bit of touring.
There is a decision to be made before we pull the trigger on conversion.
Stick with SWB diesel 102 5sp or twist to LWB petrol. When I look at prices of a TSIs it could be £10k to swap just to get a base van
I’ve owned our 2018 Startline Window Van from 600 miles old. It has air con and parking sensors.
Aye, but you'll never own or be able sell-on the Dorchester.I started converting mine because of the spiralling costs of AirBnBs and because I lost £200 quid on a pre-booked AirBnB when Storm Eunice meant we couldn't go to North Norfolk for a planned couple of nights bird-bothering.
In that context, it made complete sense to spend thousands of £££ on glass, insulation, sound deadening, carpet lining, a leisure battery, split charger, solar panels, mains wiring, a captain's passenger seat, a swivel base for same, curtains, lighting, charge points, fridge, cooker/sink, gas bottle, gas cabinet, awning rail, side awning, tailgate awning, toilet, THQ head and tail lights, lowered Bilstein suspension and enough 12mm ply and timber to keep Wickes in business for a decade.
Every night out in it probably costs more than a night in the Dorchester!
True, but I've tried calling a campsite owner at 2am for room service and his response wasn't printable here.Aye, but you'll never own or be able sell-on the Dorchester.
