Fault code help please

Hi guys I have the fault code as listed below and have changed the sensor but still have the fault code showing after reset. I have no loss of power or any other problems apart from the waring lights. would anybody have an idea of what to try next, Thanks.Screenshot 2021-09-16 at 16.19.24.png

Full Autoscan would be useful Also engine's blockmap data (engine idling) might give some clues.

I have these two scans if they are any help. If not I can get my son to scan the bits you have asked for tomorrow, thanks for replying.

Thanks - always helps to know what the exact engine type is etc.

And, please do the blockmap scan. It contains all data from sensors etc.

Meanwhile - some similarities although not exactly the same engine.

Not likely related to these faults but there is newer engine software available (Actually the software has been updated twice since factory).
Current Part No SW: 04L 906 056 KB H02 4209, latest 04L 906 056 KB H02 6189. E.g. here

Thanks for taking the time to look through the scans, I will get my son to do the block map tomorrow and post it up. Thanks

MMI we have done the two scans you spoke about, if you get a chance maybe you could have a look and see if it gives any answers, Thanks.

Thanks! Intriguing... indeed sensor for "Absolute intake pressure" reports abnormal value for idling engine, and even for stopped engine
We were a bit lucky - I had in my files a data capture from the same engine, even with the same engine software.

Basically just confirms what was already captured in the freeze frame data - intake pressure reported 37 kPa - which seems to be totally out of normal operating envelope.
Below a few other data points - it looks like engine is trying to compensate that by applying full boost even on tick-over.

Have you checked air filter and airways into engine? See the "Air cleaner degree of soiling" above. However, what I have noticed the value just seems to wander around so probably not relevant.

I would concentrate why channel IDE00594 reports the value - even engine stopped (in your other recording) when it definitely should report the same as ambient air pressure, approx. 100 kPa. A wiring problem? Does it ever report any other value?

Here is a plot how the "IDE00594 intake pressure" (orange) behaves when van (another T6) at stand-still, engine initially idling, then engine revved to max (2500 rpm) - twice here. The final dip when engine stopped - throttle flap choking the engine.

To verify that sensor really reports something at all (besides 37 kPa) you could do the same - although probably just waste of time before you can see it reporting meaningful value having just ignition on.

Anyways here is the How-to
Ignition ON, Stop/Start off, put the Seat belt on (needed for Stop/Start to work)

VCDS - Select Control Module - Engine
Advanced Measuring Values
- Tick the following
IDE00021 Engine RPM
IDE00190 Charge air pressure: specified value
IDE00347 Air mass: actual value:
IDE00594 Absolute intake pressure
IDE07375 Charge pressure before throttle valve: calculated actual value
IDE07376 Intake manifold pressure: act. value calculated
IDE07384 Throttle valve actuator 1: B1: outlet pressure - specified value
IDE07734 Air filter outlet: pressure sensor 1 bank 1: raw value 1008 mbar
IDE07738 Charge air cooler inlet: pressure sensor 1 bank 1: raw value 1002 mbar
IDE11118 Pressure after throttle valve: calculated
ENG125969 Boost pressure demand

Tick "Group UDS requests" - by 7.
Click Log - Start

Start the engine, let it warm a bit (unless warm already)

Floor it (quickly) to the max (2500rpm) for 10 seconds
Let it idle for 10 seconds

Floor it (quickly) to the max (2500rpm) for 10 seconds
Let it idle for 10 seconds

Shut it down by Stop/Start (if works), otherwise turn ignition off and immediately (but let the engine shut off) back on so VCDS can keep on logging.

Stop VCDS logging etc.
The logfile will be in folder ...VCDS\Logs
Please post the logfile.

Besides the above the engine seems to have ignoring DPF regenereation requests - however this is probably just a consequence of the main fault.

EDIT: In the attachment full blockmap data - 25 pages :geek: :geek:

Hi mmi, we have run the test you suggested and attached are the two read outs. Do you know where the sensor that is giving the low pressure reading is situated on the van. Thanks Paul.

This one seems give realistic values
IDE07734 Air filter outlet: pressure sensor 1 bank 1: raw value 997 mbar

Then these two seem to be from same source - actually the same value but different units - the "raw value" probably points to actual sensor. These should show approx. 100 kPa and 1000 mbar even only ignition on.
IDE00594 Absolute intake pressure 37 kPa abs
IDE07738 Charge air cooler inlet: pressure sensor 1 bank 1: raw value 370 mbar

I would disconnect (just the electrical plug) the following and check with VCDS the above values and also engine fault codes to see how the disconnect is registered. Just ignition on should suffice. Please save the values and faults - and post here.

Charge pressure sender - G31

Not sure if this is the one

Hi mmi, all sorted now replaced the G31 sensor and fault codes all cleared, I am going to another scan over the weekend to check everything is fine. The sensor was scooted up see pic. Thanks for all your help. Paul.

Excellent news! Really appreciate the feedback.
However, now I'm interested to see
1) how the blockmap looks now (posts #2/#5) - drive a bit before - there seemed to be a pending DPF regeneration.
2) how the engine now reacts now to full throttle (posts #7/#8) as the engine then was sluggish to spin up the revs.

Hi mmi, my son as redone the scans today. Hope they are some use to you and thanks again for your time and help. Paul.

You're welcome. Glad to be of help.
And, thank you very much for the data package! Really appreciated. I'm sure this will be useful in future for the Forum as a reference package.
Based on the data you have quite a different engine now - all the "crazy" values have cleared, the engine just had finished DPF regeneration, etc...

Now the intake pressure and commanded boost pressure curves overlap nicely (blue&green dots in the picture).
