After months of auto trader searching and a few let downs I finally bought a van. 20 plate factory kombi in iridium grey. It was an ex joiners van so needs a strip down and a good clean before I do anything to it. Apologies in advance for all the questions I'm about to ask.......

New money pit more like it. Just got the auto trader pic at the min but I'll be keeping a progress album. 150ps with a tailgate. 5seater.Screenshot_20241215_080419_Auto Trader.jpg
Gonna get vip membership later and have a mooch round the classifieds. Want a set of brackets and seatbelts put in the 3rd row before I can do the sound proofing and insulation.

Also, could of done with a 6 seater ideally so on the hunt for a front passenger bench.

Shiiiinny!

You don't need vip to see classifieds .
Double front bench are cheap as chips and if your selling a single passenger then they're always command good money .
So there's some pennies back in the pot to blow on other stuff .

Don't let the picture fool you. There's scratches and scuffs on most panels and the interior is caked with mdf dust. Nothing that can't be sorted tho. As a base for a day van I couldn't be happier with it.

Nothing is perfect but gives you chance to go out and make it your own .
Sense of achievement to see it after youve perfected is priceless though .

Hi and welcome to the forum. Lovely looking van there and, as you say, a fantastic base vehicle.

Taking out the VIP membership will repay itself in no time: besides helping keep this forum ad-free, it gives you access to lots of guides, plans, downloads etc.

The swirl marks will polish out, don’t worry about them. Get all that bloomin MDF dust vacuumed out though. (You’ll still be finding the stuff in 12 months!!!)

MDF dust is carcinogenic so you definitely want that out of there.

Great van, looking forward to seeing the project progress.

That’s why the stuff is banned in the US and, I think, Canada

Check the passenger airbag, if it was originally a double it should be fine, but if originally a single I believe the airbag is different.
