Flexi solar panel install help

Morning guys
I’m just in the process of wiring two flexi panels together on the roof of my van
I’m using mc4 connectors with a y branch to connect both in parallel
Might be over thinking this but I’ve got bare wires coming from the panels which I need to add mc4 connectors to… my question is are my panels live? Like can I work on the bare wires when my panels are on the roof in daylight?
If not what’s the work around?

Yes the will have voltage... Just cover with a blanket if you want.

Make sure you use a proper MC4 crimp tool.

Put a blanket over the panels as they will be generating power in the daylight. Keep all the wires insulated until you put each connector on as well to prevent a short

..will a ratchet cable crimp tool do or is there a specific mc4 tool for the job?
