Ghost II installer NW?

Well it's certainly immobilised, permanently, they can't get it going.

A two hour install it's supposed to be. But 10 hours later it's not fitted, and my almost brand new van is broken.

So they've arranged a visit from a VW tech tomorrow.

I'm fuming.

I really do need to find someone in my area who has fitted a Ghost II to a T6.1

If you want a job done properly, and all that.................

Would it be of any help contacting Ghost for some advice? Even if they can give a heads up to the. W tech? The VW techs I have had to deal with have always been top notch and know their shit. They fixed our Audi after it was dead, every light on the dash on with nothing going on. Same techs for both Audi and VW. Keeping my fingers crossed for you mate.

I have two issue to solve now;
1) The van won't start. Autowatch can't help here, as the Ghost not fitted. Hopefully VW tech will sort this, and I can get some assurance that no lasting damage has been done.
2) The Ghost reccomended installer is unable to install Ghost. Now I could contact Ghost to ask for advice, but you would have thought that the Ghost installer would do this. I will ask tomorrow if this call was made.

Cheers!

If I were in your shoes I would be miffed that a recognised Ghost dealer can’t fit the kit to your new van.

Surely Ghost are/should be there for when dealers/fitters get stuck on installs such as yours.

This morning the VW tech has found a broken ignition switch wire, broken inside the insulation, so that's fixed now. It's concerning me that it's been pulled around enough to do this. What else is damaged, but still working (for now)?

I've had the dash to pieces myself in March, for ehu, leisure electrics and reversing camera installation, and I've managed that without breaking anything. So much for getting the 'professionals' in.

On the Ghost II fitting, they are now saying they mistakenly had the fitting guide for the DSG van and mine is a Manual. That's why the CAN wires were not in the expected place. In a manual van they need to look for some different wires, I won't say where they are, but they don't want to dig that deep, so have abandoned the job.

Yes I am miffed!

So I ask again, has anyone in the NW had a Ghost II fitted to a MANUAL, T6.1?

Surely if they have used the wrong instructions to install the Ghost into your van they should be able to get it right with the correct instructions?

You and I may think this way, but obviously they do not.

Also I've lost confidence in them as they are unable to take apart a dash without breaking something.

Yeah agreed, if you and I can take apart a day without causing any damage it didn’t fill you with confidence that the professionals can’t.

As @fezza68 says Give Tim @ trilogy a bell, nothing to lose.

Just to conclude this thread, I got the install done at Exploria in Brighouse. Very professional, very tidy setup, same price as anywhere else (I think) and all working. Done in about 2 hours while in the very nice waiting room with a brew.

Sorry to restart the thread but given the probs you had and others have had with error codes etc can you confirm that it is possible to have a Ghost II immobiliser fitted to a manual T6.1 and for it all to work normally? I’m in Suffolk, so the other end of the country, and wondering whether to get one fitted...?

Yes it's been fitted now for a few weeks, I've had zero issues with it and now have the piece of mind that it's much harder to steal.

Mine is a Manual LWB 150 T6.1 Highline. The (2nd) fitters I used have done a few.

The first fitters recognized that the T6 ghost would NOT work properly on the T6.1, but they did not have a clue where to connect the ghost, in the new platform, and further to that, they were ham-fisted and broke a wire.

I believe some of the other problems mentioned on here MAY have been due to a T6 ghost being fitted to a T6.1. Someone else may confirm this......
