Depends on age but f car and also depends on age of Transporter, later T6 around 18/19 are compatible with MQB buttons but earlier ones are not, there’s an option for it in coding if it’s available,
Prob matches up with the date they upgraded the BCM to C or D software ?

Would I also be able to just change the air bag cover over of the GTI to the T6 squib? Would that air bag module then for the MK7 wheel?

The airbags are completely different its not just a cover

Only buttons from a compatible vehicle will work so depending on what vehicle they are from and what model you are putting it on will be the factors that answer that, button layout is only part of it as different models talk different languages so not all interchangeable !

The buttons that came with my Golf MK7 MF wheel were brand new as I bought the whole MFSW with buttons. don’t recall swapping them out at all.

I did it on mine although I don’t have ACC. The DSG paddles and CC work perfectly.

Hi, just fitted a mk 7 golf R steering wheel which looks great but controls do not work,inc the horn, any ideas on what the problem is, thinking it may need coding?

If you didn't have an MFSW before it will need coding also the buttons in a golf are incompatible with a Transporter. Some say some variant work but I've never experienced a single one work yet even the ones people have told me work haven't. You can get polo buttons to work though.

I would doubt it but someone said theirs did it depends on year model possibly. The only ones I know of working exactly are the polo gti ones but they are hard to find and expensive for that reason.

I think Q variants will but it's hit and miss. We always fit what we know will 100% work
