Good news and bad news

I’ve finally finished installing the Renogy 50a DC-DC charger and MPPT controller. I’ll hit the piggy bank next month for the 200w of solar panel power I’m putting on the roof. I had no success getting their DC Home app to make a stable link to the BT-2 monitor. Even though I got a message from Renogy they had fixed the connection bug. It actually saw the monitor and the little bluetooth light started to flash….for about three seconds! The app just switched off and stopped, leaving me with same notice that it’s stopped and I can either cancel or report. I’ve never seen such consistently bad feedback for an app as this but I’ll stay optimistic they’ll eventually get their fingers out and get it sorted.

Meanwhile, I bought another little BM-2 battery monitor and put it on the starter battery. No problem with bluetooth connections with these little gadgets. So I agree with @Dellmassive that it becomes compulsive viewing on the phone to watch how the DC-DC charger is balancing the two batteries

If you have two (or more) BM-2 battery monitors . . .

You can use the BM3 APP that allows you to see three Four BM-2 units simultaneously . .

Oh dear. I've caught the app monitor virus! Just bought BM-3.

Please no don't do this to me Lee. I know BT Home works on my son and his girlfriends iphones. I can't buy a new phone too!

Is your android phone fairly modern, software version 8 or higher , some older phones wont work with some apps.

Yea, I’ve got an iPhone. Just asked about the android version to make sure I found the right one.

It’s a bit much for an app, but I am getting a bit sick of how clunky it is to switch Bluetooth devices in the free version.

It’s the correct app. To me it’s worth it, one-time fee after all and I also got fed up with switching devices. Iphone and three devices here, two in van and one in SO’s car.

Yes that's the one.....

Upto 4x BM2 device simultaneously... (I have around 8x BM2. it will jump to the first ones it's sees... But you can lock a BM2 to a square / position.... So I always have VS and VA at the top... That's van starter/aux batteries..... The other two boxes I jump to whatever BM2 I want..... IE car . Solar etc)


If you install it you need to uninstall the standard version.... Or they clash. And either version will lock onto a BM2, and block the other version.

Though you can get around that by going into the phones settings and switching background use (power,data,memory. Everything) for both apps.... making sure that the app is fully dead. Then you can successfully switch between app...

Or just uninstall. And use one or other.

And you can enable/disable any BMW in any views
...
