Help setting up a Victron 50 dc to dc charger

I have checked my SB fuse and it is a 50 amp and also my LB is 50amp so I will have to change them for 60 amp.
I can’t get the setting up that you are showing with lithium battery showing.
I’ve boiled a kettle off my inverter, put my headlights and spot lights on full switched the heater to maximum and only managed as shown.

I can’t get this up on my settings either

looking at this pic,

your in BULK charge mode,

but the battery voltage of 13.5v says that your battery is almost full, - so slowing down the current going into it.

so id assume your battery is +80% SOC,

have you got an APP for the battery to show its SOC?

you can try running 800W from the inverter to see if that loads the battery enough to drop its voltage, . .

that plus tghe inverter load may make the charger show the full 50A,

but you will need to run the van with the headlights on etc to bring the INPUT voltage up, as 12.5V will be too low for the full 50A.

so run the van with headlights on,

get the INPUT voltage up,

then try your inverter etc and a 800W load.

then see what you get. on the status page.

.

I’ve tried that Lee full lights, heater on max, aircon on then plugged 800 watt kettle into my inverter, battery monitor dropped to 12.7 but charger remained at 13.5 amps Switched everything off and battery monitor read 13.2v.
I’ve gone through the manual again and it says to disconnect the remote wire link whilst setting up I did not do this so would that make any difference?

post some screen shots so we can what the Orion XS status page is showing.

1 - with engine off, - loads off

2- with engine running (headlights off) - loads off

3- with engine running (headlights off) - loads on

4 - with engine running (headlights on) - loads off

6 - with engine running (headlights on) - loads on

7 - your lithium battery APP screen if you have one.

and post a pic of your settings page. . .

we havent seen that yet.

whats the settings? - charger @ 50A?

looks like the starter battery / alternator is not going above 12.5v, in any of those screen shots.

that may be keeping you down on charger power?

++++++++

you will need 13.5v or more,

try taking the van for a drive to see if that voltage jumps up,

it defo will when you use the breaks as the REGEN braking kicks in. (14.5v odd)

Yeah I think that's it - which means your SB is probably "full" and the alternator thinks there's no requirement for any charge.

Right I’ve been out for a run down the dual carriageway got oil temp up to 95degrees drove up to 70 mph and this is the screen shot.

yeh. . . he defo needs more voltage from the engine bay to get higher power from the charger. . .

I've run into this before,

which lead me to keep tweaking my "engine detection profile"

I've tweaked it down to 12.01v before on a long drive back from the south coast,

as i had an empty 230Ah battery to recharge, and the charger wasn't having none of it, as the starter was FULL from the AMT12-2.

the fix was to turn down the auto detection,

and turn on the lights and stuff to try and get the alternator voltage up. . .

worked in the end. . . . but took some playing about with.

still hard locked at 12.5v?

have you got any other meter on the starter battery to check the voltage?

BM2 or other?

volt meter?

You'll need to have the 'trends' page open when you're driving, with one of the fields set to 'outpuy amps' - that status above is just the current status, as in what it's doing now, and what current is putting in

yep agreed. . .

example.

selct the INPUT VOLTAGE for the blue,

and

Output power for the RED trace.

so the smart alternator is working,

just that you are getting a constant 12.5v from the starter battery as its currently fully charged.

im not sure why the main headlights are not switching you to the higer voltage?

thing that would normaly kick in higher voltage:

blower fan setting 2 or above,
heated seats,
headlights on full,
heated windscreen,
AC on wither blower 2,

ie things then need a lot of power will normaly kick the starter voltage up to 13.5v odd.

you will have to have a play and keep an eye on the BM2 for when the reading jumps up from 12.5v.

when it eventually does, i would expect that the Orion XS will deliver more power.
