H&R Anti Holl Bars (ARB) Front + Rear

Finally got my arbs fitted, such a great improvement coupled with 30mm lowering springs.

Understeer vastly improved

That’ll be B14’s then;)

:laugh::laugh:

Yeah but, Yeah but....

Did Tourer mean, @T6180 fitted the ARB's before the B14's and there was an improvement, or, he fitted the ARB's to the B14 set up which improved the B14 set up ??

The ARB's and B14's are a bit of an 'accepted' combo. I'm trying to see if anyone thinks ARB's make an improvement to non B14 set ups

I'm not rushing down the B14 route as have ET45 wheels and don't want to have to change them or the tyres due to rub (or worse) as the B14's would be even lower than my current set up

Interesting. Do you mean you have the VW Eibach -30mm springs and standard dampers ??

Sorry, no. @T6180 fitted the B14s first.
I'm not sure many would go the opposite way first, but I imagine just the ARB mod would be a vast improvement on standard, and coupled with 40mm springs would be even better.

I'm liking the sound of your view Tourer  On today's windy/twisty drive out to the Hills, I was really focusing on each corner and experimenting with entry speed and line choice. It definitely feels to me like 'roll' is the primary factor to be improved rather than the 'damping'. So as of now, I am leaning in the direction of adding the H&R ARB's next ( -40mm springs already on) rather than the ARB's and B8 Sprint Dampers at the same time. Doesn't mean the B8's won't go on though :D ... I just might make the changes sequentially so I can more readily ascertain the difference each single change makes. The last change, the tyres, was a very obvious and significant improvement to handling, road noise and actually damping.

HI XS, when you say great improvement and understeer improved can you elaborate please? Is body roll noticeably less? Is the ride more/less harsh? Does the van feel more planted/stable? I've got Eibach -30mm stings and can't decide whether H&R ARB's are the way to go. Thanks.

I've got H&R arb's going on next week, I still find the bus wallows a bit too much with B14's and a 50mm drop. Fingers crossed it doesn't ruin the ride.

This all sounds good news !

@Insert Coin will be really interesting to get your feedback as soon as yours are fitted. Particularly as you have had the B14 set-up a while and feel it hasn't resolved or improved 'roll'. So it will be interesting to hear the differences hot off the press

@T6180 how many 'stiffness' settings are there?? .. and how do you decide where to set them ? ... or is it trial and error, or fitters experience etc etc ??

There are two settings and I just went stiff..to reduce body roll as much as possible

As I have said on another thread, one of the best upgrades you can do!

What damper and coil set-up did you add the ARB's too to get such a good result ??
.

Nothing that special just H&R 40mm lowering springs. Used the van for 18 months without the uprated H&R ARBs but wish I had them from day one. Totally different vehicle to drive now (camper conversion).

@Dilbert .... another great data point thanks !

The Thread has turned into a great collation of experience of fitting the H&R ARB's, In particular for me, it has dispelled the position that a few 'fitters' (experts?) had put to me, which was : the ARB's are a waste of money unless you buy the B14's as well.

I'm feeling very good about this making a great van even better :somersault:

Ok I’m spitting in the wind here, but I had my H&R ARBs fitted about 3 months after the B14s as it was still rolling more than I liked, and I found absolutely no difference whatsoever. I even went under the van to see if THQ had really fitted them.
Take what you want from that, everyone else thinks they’re wonderful, but I can’t help thinking that maybe there’s an element of “emperors new clothes” and I regret wasting £500 getting them.
