H & R lowering springs

We fit loads of -40mm H&R springs, perhaps, 2 sets a week, and have never had an issue. They are a firm ride, but nowhere near as much as the Eibach -30mm. If you can afford it I would always recommend going for the bilstein B14's.

My local dealer just told me to fit whatever I wanted, but keep the original springs just in case of any warranty issues.

Mine came lowered from the dealer, but believe it's on eibachs. A set of B14's will be going on as soon as i can afford them.
Haven't found any problems with the springs it has on, just want it even lower (not air ride low) and stiffer.

I wouldn't say the B14's make them stiffer - Lower and smoother would be my description. We run a demo van with B14's if you want to come and try one out, if you haven't already. We can offer competitive prices on these fitted, with a full 4 wheel laser alignment included.

Cheers, that's kinda what I meant - improve the damping to keep the van more stable.
Kind offer of you but unfortunately Bognor is quite some distance from me, being based at the North of the Thames Valley.

We've only really fitted B14's after an initial recommend and they are as good as they say. We fit at least one kit a month now. They are well worth the investment. Come for a demo, you wont be disappointed.

Sorry, not tried anything else to compare

@BognorMotors would you say that the Bilstein's give a smoother ride? I have the H&R' 40mm's on my T32 but I'm finding that because they are load rated to the T32 and It's usually empty that I get what I can only describe as 'chatter' over rough surfaces, probably due to the lack of pre-load on the springs...

Mines much the same, i think your right and down to the lack of weight

@Pauly I'm hoping that sound proofing/insulating/lineout etc. will add some 'balast' otherwise I think I might have to start to thinking about the more expensive options...

Dampened mine down a bit but did not cure it totally but got to a point it doesnt really bother me anymore so going to leave it for the time being

I am still looking for a set of standard rear Springs do you have anything ? I want to change my t32 rears to t30 or even t28

Yes completely. No harshness that you get with the H&R's or Eibachs. You can carry a lot more speed with the Bilsteins. You find they really smooth out the little bumps etc. I will only run these on my van now.

And I have loads of standard springs in stock - Keeff

I'm also thinking about installing H&R 40mm lowering springs. No need to go any lower and although B14's would be lovely they are outside the budget at the moment.

There appear to be 4 different H&R 40mm spring kits available with different load ratings: 29720-1, 29720-2, 29720-3, 29720-4

The 'correct' kit seems to be determined by the axle loading of each individual van i.e. T28, T30 and T32 etc. and the relevant axle load rating

I've emailed a number of reputable Transporter specialists and perhaps unsurprisingly received three different recommendations for the correct spec/kit for H&R lowering springs

I have a SWB T30 Kombi - it will be used as a family leisure vehicle transporting people, push-bikes, surfboards, personal kit etc. No plans at present to convert to a camper or any serious weight carrying.

My axle load ratings are 1-1610kg and 2-1600kg

So my question to the T5/T6 experts and gurus, is which H&R 40mm spring kit is to be recommended?

I had the 29720-4 fitted today to my T32 4Motion and I have to say they are great compared with the standard springs that were taken off. I expected a trade off by going lower the ride would be harder but amazingly its miles better, and i mean a night and day difference! I dont know what VW fit as standard and I assume they are designed for large weight loading but my van will not carry much at all and this has turned out to be a great purchase. Just waiting on my 20" wheels now which for sure will make the ride a little worse than the stock 17s.

I've also gone for 29720-4. Yet to get them fitted, so hoping for a trouble free install and 'improved' ride

Good luck with the install, didn't do my own so couldn't comment. I was nervous before having them fitted because i read some ropey reviews but perhaps they were using the 'wrong' 29720s....

I've got 50mm custom vanz lowering springs which also seem to have the metalic rattle over any bump etc when empty, they assure me they have never had this problrm and asked if the springs were correctly fitted. surely they can only be fiited one way! ( yes they are the correct way up)
