Someone got in before me but for some reason didn’t complete. So lucky me picked them up this morning. Ordering some new H7’s to put in them and get them on this weekend hopefully. Smug face
I’m in the middle of installing these lamps this morning and have a right side DRL issue - 02746 (Right daytime running lamp bulb) Carista is failing to reset. I’ve swapped over left to right bulbs, same problem, left lamp works, right lamp doesn’t. I’ve set fogs to be used as DRL’s in Carista and this works no with issue so it’s a potential solution. But want to try to fix before reinstalling the bumper. TIA for any tips or solutions.

The earlier H7 had an issue with the DRL holder burning out and causing faults. The holder was updated on the later models (2018ish?). You can buy upgrade kits for about £30. There was a link on here somewhere recently.

If you have fog lights you could use Carista to code them as the DRL until you get it repaired.

Just came back to post my findings. You figured it out also, thank you. Yes it’s a bulb holder burn out issue. Fog light drls it is for now until I find the upgrade kit post

Only place I could get the repair kit was direct from nearest VW dealership. Came next day. part no is

Don’t take no for an answer - they’ll ask for your reg but because you’ve upgraded the lights it won’t show as the right part.

£26

Awesome. Thank you.

The lamp itself has melted very slightly meaning one of the metal tabs has been misplaced so it won’t line up with the bulb holder. Assume the upgrade kit is a new bulb holder with direct wiring? I guess cutting the existing wires to lamp and connecting direct to the bulb holder?

Oh hang on. are you using LED’s? Which ones please?

Sorry, you said the lamp melted. Lamp=bulb in my profession, sorry for the confusion. So the housing has melted, has it?

…and yes, the repair kit avoids the contacts. Mine is sat in a bag having picked it up on Friday. I’ll remove the headlight for the fix. Don’t need to remove the bumper entirely, just one side.

Bulb holder shows next to no damage. But casing has melted slightly.

I put the bulb back in with a view to order the upgrade kit. But as luck would have it once refitted on the van the drl lit up. Result if only a temporary one.

Now it’s dark outside to test, the +200% Osram Nightbreakers look great and do a good job. Only the sidelight and drl look a little candle yellow.

My DRL holder is slightly melted but works. Drops out occasionally, hence the repair kit purchase. I did the upgrade about 3 or 4 weeks ago. Hope yours stays working for you. The night breakers in dedicated reflectors make a huge difference. Programming dipped to stay on when full beam on is easy too with Carista.

Yep, I enabled dipped and full beam on together. Without going LED bulb, I’m searching for a brighter drl bulb
