Is nearly £300 reasonable? I haven’t a clue. I don’t really see I have another option as not got the soldering skill and the kahuna’s to be cutting and remodelling wiring etc

I’d got the h7’s off a forum member fairly recently. I guess that is one option, bacj to trawling eBay I guess

Is there anyone electrically minded on here that would do the soldering etc for me? Happy to pay of course? Is this a naive thought?

If you really can't face soldering then you could use a butt crimp connector, get the ones with heat shrink adhesive and once crimped you can use the edge of a match or lighter flame to weather seal them.

Adhesive-lined heat shrink butt crimp connectors in red, blue & yellow for 0.5-6.0mm² cable. Crimp & heat to shrink the insulation and flow the adhesive.

And no, no shame in asking or finding someone rather than stuffing up an expensive part. I'd try and find a VW Independent as it's likely a fix they've done a few times and may well be cheaper.
