H7 Headlamp - W21W DRL Bulb Issue. Be Aware

Got the F version from a Cali owner who upgraded to factory LED. Only 90 quid! Everyone running Twenty20 LED bulbs in the H7 DRLs still bobbing along error free?

I know this was a while ago but did you manage to fix the issue this way?
I’d just read about the problem and the VW Fix (bulb holder with fly leads rather than connections when the holder twists in). I got the headlights second hand and no sign of a problem but while on the bench I thought easier to apply the fix. Worked fine since installation and no problems whatsoever.

Yank the wires from below with vice grips one at a time.
Take holder apart. Used vice grips to keep from stabbing my self.
One hour, done.
Fits back in original place. I used long vice grips to place down there.
Yes and take top of airbox out like described above.
Cheers

Is the repair of the DRL with the new holder a headlight out job or can it be done with them in situ?

You're a champ. Thanks for that. Just less than £20 a pair delivered but I'm contemplating the new 'canplus' version for £30 delivered. Silly money for 2 bulbs innit!

OK. So less than 4 years later and one of my elegance bulbs has failed. Luckily for me it's the offside that's failed so I have some access with the air box off but when removing the holder the bulb detached itself and fell inside the headlamp. Not so lucky after all.
For now I'm just gonna try another elegance BUT if the NS fails then I'll look to find a better bulb and replace both, bumper off, light units out so I can remove the bulb that's fell inside and because fitting the NS DRL is impossible while on the van. So why the change? Because Classic Car LEDs suggest these should NOT be used as DRL's as they burn out. No other site, including the site I purchased the originals from, mentions this.
So.......
Better alternatives anyone?
