HEAD UNIT CUTTING OUT

Hello,
Any advice/pointers would be much appreciated...
I had a new head unit fitted by an audio electrician a year ago. I also had a Wolfbox rear view mirror hard wired in by the same people a few weeks later. A couple of weeks ago, both the head unit and mirror started to switch off for a few seconds at the same time, then coming back on a few seconds later. More recently they have both been randomly powering down together and not coming back on at all. They only come back on when the ignition is switched off and then back on. I've got my T6 booked in for attention next Monday, but was wondering whether I could fix it myself before then, following any help on here. I'm wondering whether it could be a dodgy earth cable somewhere??? Strange how the head unit and mirror run separately, but randomly power off at the same time. Any help would be great, thanks!

That sounds like a problem with the ignition live feed and the chances are both units are using the same wiring.
When the HU turns off are you able to turn it back on using the power button?

Have you a leisure battery setup?

Where did they take the power from?

What radio? If not a VW one, then they may have fitted a can bus assist adapter to generate a ignition signal.

Maybe that's dropping out the ignition signal?

Thanks Howzat. No it won't switch back on using the head unit buttons. I have to pull over, then switch ignition off and then back on to resume normal play. Any ideas? Cheers
