Headlight levelling sensors issue

The patient is T5.1 2013. After front headlight levelling sensor failed I have installed a new aftermarket one.

Connected the VCDS and see that values reported differ quite a bit between front and rear with car standing unloaded on a level ground

Values reported are:
- 86 percent front
- 44 percent rear

Feel that both should be a similar value close to 50 percent or am i mistaken?

Did anyone try aftermarket ones instead of originals with good results?

If they are the same as T6 then they are different parts that mount differently so maybe normal to get different readings
Think I would get the van on a flat level surface and run basic settings on the range module and then test it and see if it works ok

From what i've searched it seems that T6 has the same front sensor.

Agree that front and rear have different arms and mounts but IMHO the construction and positioning should still translate into comparable readings.

Chatgpt suggests thst readings from front and back should be around 50 percentish.

Could anyone please check their sensor readings in vcds and post here for reference? Much appreciated.

Today evening will run the basic settings and then check how they behave when driving.

As I was tinkering with mine earlier (abs sensor...again!) here's the values. Mine is lowered but you can see mine is the other way around to yours. I'll check the part numbers as the front and rear may be different

Just had a look and the front and rear sensors are different - there is the deflector flap on the rear but the aftermarket ones without are still different to the ones shown for the front sensor so I suspect your front one is wrong (based on the values).

OE part numbers are:
7E0941273 Front
7E09412734 Rear

Thanks a lot for sharing! Yeah, values are off the other way - this is strange.

My aftermarket one (pictured) looked exactly like the one i had on a car. Unfortunately have not read the symbol of the original one. I think I left in in garage so maybe I still will be able to decipher.

Just checked, and the aftermarket one is replacement for "7E0 941 273", so this checks out. I suspect that this chinese version might not be.

Agree that front and rear are different.

Do you have images of yours (front and rear) ?

No worries. Hopefully just a case of getting the right thing. No pics but if you search those part nums you'll find pics of oem.

One thing I've thought since posting is that the sensors need have 'basic settings' applied via something like vcds so worth doing that before you take them off.
