Heated Seats defective [Merge]

I've yet to have a go with that connector, been concentrating on the main bit of the task. I now have the seat reassembled with a new connection between the swivel seat base (the lowered Vankraft base) and the van and repaired the backrest wiring that the Vankfraft folding bracket had eaten. Soldering cup connections was new to me so struggled a bit with that and what remained of the backrest heatpad loom was very short so that was tricky to work with, extended using butt connectors. I still need to tidy up the wiring inside the seat base, just using Tesa tape for now.

Have you checked the pads themselves for burnout? Have a look here for help:

This looks like a tidy solution. I like your connector - looks robust.

I’ve finally completed my version. Update here.

I had been considering the lowered vankraft base. Don’t know if I can stomach doing this job again!

I have a t5.1 and a t6 but the heated seats in the T5.1 are far better at heating up and get hot and the T6 seat drivers doesn't work and passengers get slightly warm
Under investigation I have found the T6 have seats are supplied with 5.8volts on all 3 settings and not sure if these seats are running from a 6volts supply or the controller is suspect faulty

Interesting. Mine are totally unpredictable. Sometimes lowest setting is unbearably hot (not unsafe hot though), and sometimes highest setting is barely noticeable.

And if I cycle through and go off/on again, far hotter!

Maybe I should slap my voltmeter on it.

Reading up
It's sounds with much confusion that the control module 5K0959772A or J774 is common to go faulty apparently??
And it under the dash apparently??
I will have fun trying to find that tomorrow
I tested the heat pads in both seats with multi metre and they look ok but need to test under load
Both seats have open circuit codes but after changing one on the heat pads the codes still there and returned after clearing codes
hence why I suspect module as voltage to pads doesn't change on all 3 settings.
I purchased the vehicle like this. And both seats going faulty is probably not as likely as a module going faulty
Need wiring diagram really

Be keen to hear what you learn.

I think the module is below/to the right of the gear selector

Small black box with blue plastic socket on the end

So tested the seats pads that are stiched in to mine half leather seats
Both are poor and almost open circuit
The heat pads are powered in series so they are 6 volt pads so when doubled up works fine on battery voltage.(12-14.8 volts)
The new pads cheap eBay pads are 12 volt so don't work in series as the originals and don't get warm
So I wired them in parallel and the system works ok a little hot really.
The small temp sensor on the original seat (black and the size of a grain of rice with two small black wires) is still used and put on the the new heat pad.
This controls the temp.
So when seat is on one bar power setting it cuts the power when it gets above the set temp and obviously cuts the power at a higher temp on a higher setting.
It will do for now but I think I will source some 6 volt pads of premium quality and wiring it back in series as this will regulate better with the set temperatures
The pads I used were 12 volt and only £6 each so was not expecting them to even work. But if you like hots seats it works well.
The cheap pads also have a thermal cutout built in for safety Reasons set at 70°c apparently.
