Help! (907 Gas Bottle)

Hi all, question pertains to gas. 907 bottle, through to grill and two burner hob. Never a problem (had van two years ish) but stopped working.

Presumed gas had run out (don’t know how much was in when bought van).

Got a new 907 today. Installed perfectly, no cross thread on screw etc, carefully screwed, opener red twist opening valve and heard the gas enter line.

However gas hob/ grill still not working.

The little spark thing sparks fine.

Thoughts?

Do I need to prime anything? I note when I push the hob control down, I can’t hear gas escaping?

Many advance thanks

Flame on one burner, so maybe regulator issue? Flame won’t increase in size and when I try and activate other burner, this goes out?!

I would say gas regulator faulty, on some motorhome forums there were quite a few posts a few years ago with regulators failing and it was found that oil residue from the gas was gunking up the regulators.

Thank you, do you know if this is an easy fix? DIY?

Quite easy for me as a retired heating engineer but if you replace it yourself you will need some leak detector fluid some use washing up liquid mixed with water if any gas leaks it will bubble but remember to wipe off any residue when finished.

Thank you.

Is there troubleshooting I should try before replacing (already replaced 907 cylinder)

Nothing else it could be really.

Presume no manifold (gas taps) in line before the hob?

do you have any other regulators hose and cooker that you use at home you could use just to confirm the bottle is ok

I do not, but the problem presented suddenly with an old bottle that was working fine (hence my deduction had ran out) the bottle has been replaced today (full) but problem persists, so I think that means bottle is not the problem

About half way down this link is a way to reset your regulator. Worth a try?

So, request for direction/ guidance.

Followed kind advice on purging lines.

Cleaned all stove side bits of any debris/ soot deposit etc

Reconnected gas bottle to regulator and checked with fairy liquid for any bubbles (none when gas cylinder turned back on).

And then back in hab area, turned knob for gas….nada, nothing, no noise, no gas.

Checked cylinder was ‘on’ which it was.

Does this all suggest regulator has gone splat?

Do I need a gas engineer to replace?

Many advance thanks

When you turned on the gas at the hob did you hold the control knob in. If you didn’t then there would be no gas as the fail safe would prevent gas from coming out. I would suggest that the regulator has gone from your previous observations. If you do it yourself make sure you use leak detector spray as it shows up the smallest leak but it is a diy possible job just need to make sure when you do up the copper pipe connection you get it just right, too loose and you’ll have a leak, too tight and you risk damaging/severing the copper pipe

Yes, held down.

Will get a quote and decide if I tackle or not
