Update from meeting / water tests / gutter inspection / comparison:
Very productive and positive…
Appears leaks (roof top and gutter) may be a result of supplier (Horizon) remedial works to reprofile roof top (on receipt roof was significantly concave / ponding-since reprofiled by Horizon is much better)…So likely needs some sealant at canvas junctions to make good. Leaks occurred after reprofiling.
Then compared our Horizon roof to another LWB (HiLo) the installer fitted a number of years ago (note doesn’t leak, and installer hasn’t experienced any HiLo or Horizon leaks to date (except one roof needing a minor repair to sealant)).
It’s not been noted before: same bow / fall to gutter outside / frame / lip / roof trim inside as our roof (ie water will collect / pond at centre of gutter if sat perfectly level)…drainage impacted further by outlets, hinge width etc.
Ultimately confirmed it’s not a deviation and as manufactured…our gutter ponds water, which then sits against canvas, which is folded under at base of gutter. Yes canvas is coated (‘water resistant’), it’s still a canvas, with sealant junctions at base of gutter (ie not a ‘waterproof’ upstand…suitable for purpose??)
Likely to have exacerbated the leaks I’m experiencing, although for me even if re-sealed, gutter design doesn’t function robustly (ponds water against canvas / canvas junctions)…so next stage is hopefully working through some design solutions through our installer and with supplier.
I do think, from my own recent separate questions and feedback, Horizon have very significantly improved and tightened their approved installer network from previous and now mostly historic HiLo installer directed installation issues (eg our installer very competent, has installed well what they have been provided-and hence me not naming as will likely be unfairly attributed all the blame!). Therefore based on my own current experience of the drainage / roof in use, next talking through how possibly a few design adjustments / historic design issues (again not blaming supplier…was inherited) need some attention to create a more robust product and where necessary a retrofit solution (rains lots, needs robust drainage+waterproof drain=dry van!)
Will keep posted.
