How low can I go static?

Alright guys and girls.

I did have a search and so far it seems SoLows are the main choice.

What are my options to slam a T6.1 staying static? Spent an absolute fortune on the van and new crossers so don't really fancy another 9k on air and alloys so I'm leaving towards a static option considering the van only gets driven to MX/Enduro sessions once a week really.

Not new to dailying low cars so I can live with the pain and obviously raise it up if I need.

Question is how low can I go on coils? Is 125mm from the SoLows and 12mm from the machined mounts low low?

20's seems the way to go? Anyone got decent results on 19's or is 20 the general best option?

Thanks in advance

I used to run Solows at their highest which is around the 100mm mark. I was also running 17's with 225/55/17's which are, in fairness, a slightly smaller diameter than the standard 17" size.
I only went to a handful of enduro's and motorcycle trials before I got beached and had to be pulled out!

Its not for the weak! Haha Mines down about 160mm I reckon give or take. Subframe catches/scrapes on speed bumps, as does the front jacking points and exhaust. I've almost beached it a few times but wouldn't have it any other way!

SoLows all the way down, machined top mounts and hub mod. Got adjuster deletes to go on the rear as soon as the weather turns a bit nicer! Sat on 20"s

Just reading about the hub mod now. How much extra drop do you reckon that gives? 20mm ish?

That's the kinda low I'm talking about! You didn't fvck around did you

How do the SoLows ride? Obviously these mods aren't for comfort haha

Any other bits done? Linger drop links I'm guessing?

Looks awesome dude

Yea I get it's not the best approach but I'd bet there'll always be a digger or tractor to drag me out whilst a crowd / traffic jam forms.

Do you still ride? I've just got into it all, loving it

I had longer drop links, they started knocking and I couldn't be bothered to replace them so removed the whole anti roll bar.

Hub mod dives about 10-15mm iirc. Don't quote me on that though! Solows ride brilliantly even at this height! I wouldn't have anything else!

Spot on cheers

Yes. I originally bought a KTM 690 Enduro and while too heavy for stuff like this, it sparked an interest in some local off road events.
That interest resulted in me selling the '690 and buying a Vertigo trial bike. I ride in a local championship, at a low level but I'm hooked.
Being able to literally lift the bike into the boot is a bonus!!

I'm actually looking at trial bikes also! Really enjoying the enduro on the smoker but seen the trials guys and fancy a try. I've booked a taster day locally, if I like it I'll be getting one.

You booked on at the Inch Perfect Trials place? Have a go on one of the eBikes. Great bits of kit.

A friend and I did the Ady Smith KTM experience last year. It'd basically a whole day thrashing the full KTM Enduro range about. It was a lot of fun and well worth it. The only problem was that I turned into a bit of a lunatic and I think I would end up going too far if I tried to compete.
Trials however are good fun and it's a nice atmosphere. Being a more sedate sport means I'm less likely to hurt myself. I get enough satisfaction overcoming the obstacles and completing the sections without the need to fly around although, you still can if you want!! There are plenty of skills to learn aswell which appeals to me.

I wish there was something like this on the south coast. I'm planning a trip up to Inch Perfect in the near future but it's certainly too far for regular trips.

I am surprised that some of the comments are honestly pointing out the issues of extremely low vans , usually owners of very low vans simply say they ride like stock Ha ha , ( its NOT possible of course ) , at 160 mm lower there is no travel left in the suspension , drive shafts take a lot of stress , wheel alignment is nigh on impossible to get perfect and tyre wear is extreme . The roll centre of the vehicle is likely to be underground so all in all not the safest things to do. If the van is primarily a show van you can put up with these problems . If you drive it every day expect a certain amount of pain . .
There is a reason that TUV do not approve any lowering of more than 80 mm and even though UK doesn't recognise TUV , it still makes sense to be mindful of it .
Modifying top mounts is also an issue , we remove all these on vans we work on as the stress on the mount causes them to break up .
Its also important to realise that at 120 to 130 mm lower you can only adjust up 30 mm which means the van will still be very low even at max height .

We certainly would never lower a Transporter to anywhere near these height's and i am pretty sure any decent Transporter suspension company ( who value their third party insurance ) would hesitate to do it as well . the come backs and issues that will be experienced would put most off , there will be private individuals doing these mods and as they dont need to worry about third part risks and there public liability insurance they are happy to plod on .

I am the kill joy of the industry as everyone knows but glamourising super low vans isnt good for most owners who maybe dont realise what a mine field this is ,
