I have a t6.1 and it doesnt have a rear view mirror, but has this little plastic thing where a mirror should be. How do I get it off? I tried fishing line behind it but no joy. Don't want to be pulling at it too much cause with the luck I have my window will crack in half.

From memory it pops off from the bottom but you are left with the little clip that a mirror would clip on to. That’s bonded to the screen so that has to be removed somehow as you cannot get behind it

No I've not tried twisting it or anything yet. I thought it would be bonded so tried the line behind it. It kept snapping the line so there beeing a clip or somthing behind the plastic makes sense. I will try twisting it tomorrow see what's behind it.

It might be a bonded rain sensor as well, if it's a replacement screen they may well only keep the universal one in and a cap to cover it on vans that don't need it.

No rain sensor/auto wiper on the van i should probably have said to be fair

This is what is behind it, and that’s how the cover clips on. I removed mine to fit a rear view camera screen

I don’t suppose you know of a mirror that fits please? I could do with a mirror to keep an eye on the little one. Bought a cheap Amazon one which fell off after a day!

(Tried removing this with no joy too! The cap comes off but it doesn’t help much). Thanks

It will be bonded to the screen and if removed will most likely leave a black circle where the glass has been etched to the best best would be to fit a mirror.

Any standard transporter or caddy mirror will fit

No but often the sensors are pre-bonded to the glass so if it was the only windscreen in stock conceivably they may just have put a cap on it.

But looks like it's been identified.

If you opt for a OEM mirror there is videos on you tube to show how they are fitted

Great thanks, I was looking on Amazon but struggling to find much. I’ll take a look!

I didnt know that mate, makes sense though. Always learning

@PhillH so if I did take it off there would be a black circle there anyway? So no point really taking it off unless somthing going to cover it. The reason I wanted it gone is where i actually want to put my dash cam right in the middle of the window high up as can get it out the way..... it has this black thing on the picture, so wanted to remove it. But if it's going to leave a circle that you can't get rid of then I will leave it. Thanks for your help all who replied

Sorry for the delay @vwjack yes there will be a black circle. Other option would be to fabricate a mount for your dash cam using the fitting and mount your camera that way.
