HPFP replacement & dipstick tube

Hello everyone,

I'm in the process of changing the HPFP on a 2017 T6 with CXGB engine. I've followed a lot of the guidelines on the site along with the workshop manual instructions.

I'm now a bit stumped with a step to get access to pump union nuts where you need to move the oil dipstick tube. Access is fairly tight and I just can't figure out how to do what should be a very simple step? I've removed a bolt on the intake manifold that I thought may be holding it but it still wont budge.

Any tips?

Cheers!

I can't even remember removing the dipstick tube when I replaced my pump. Maybe I did, who knows

Try spraying some lube at the base of the tube and give it a good waggle about. They usually get stuck in the 'o' ring at the base. A good waggle and keep spraying stuff down at the base and it will eventually give up the fight and come out.

Thanks for the tips. It was a simple screw that I just couldn't see as it's hidden from view.

Took me a lot longer than I thought, but I finally got the hpfp out. Massive relief that the effort was worth it, as confirmed a broken spring.

Good morning, I saw the broken spring of the injection pump, what problem did it create? Did it perhaps make a rattling noise? Did the vehicle have problems while driving? ... my Cali also makes a strange noise but everything works...

Hi alter,

I had a rattling noise but I didn't have any issues with driving it. It was this thread that led me to the possible broken spring as it mine sounded very similar.

I also took the van to VW specialist garage and they said it was possibly the HPFP without me sharing my suspicions. They did advise to not drive it until it was sorted.

... I have driven more than 10k km with the ticking so far and I think that if the spring was broken the engine would give problems... mystery
